My top "Nicolas Cage guilty pleasure" film. By the way, if you don't have your own "Nicolas Cage guilty pleasure" film, you don't deserve to watch movies.

A sappy mashup of "It's a Wonderful Life" and "A Christmas Carol" with Nick Cage, in a pre-nutcase role. This one is fairly derivative, yet still effective. You could go worse with your Christmas watching picks.

For me a beautiful movie with my favourite actor Nicolas Cage, a great actor to play such a difficult movie, his face-expressions were unbelievable good.

Strange, unsatisfying fable that never sets out its premise or even what its moral is; the screenplay is frustratingly ambiguous as to whether or not the Cage and Leoni relationship was ever a “happy” marriage. Neither a “grass is always greener” fantasy, nor “Mr Mom” farce, the film spins its wheels with little to no point. Cage and Leoni are quite good, and could anchor a remake of GROUNDHOG DAY, which this resembles in some ways.

Modern day 'Its a Wonderful Life'-ish flick, with Nick Cage when he was a great actor. Warm and thoughtful. Feel good flick.

Cage (surprisingly) gives a decent performance and I liked the chemistry between he and Leoni. Ultimately, too cutesy for it's own good.

In a world...of families, there comes a time...in every man's life when something so unexplainable happens...that he has to stand and fight for what's right...or die trying. Coming this summer...Freaky Family. Starring Nic Cage as the man. Tea Leoni as the man's woman. And a baby as the baby. Doing for 90-100 minutes things that pass the time, things that might make your mom laugh, and things that probably weren't in the script, but no one will ever know because no one ever got a script.

It's a feeble, yet watchable attempt at "It's a Wonderful Life." Nothing more, nothing less. But if you get the choice, pick Capra over Ratner...as if there was any question.

In the year 2000, a family with a 4-bedroom, 2 1/2-bath house was struggling in suburbia. This film shows that you can only have money or family, and not both. I am not sure what Leoni was doing when we first see her in the shower scene, but she was certainly having fun.

Cheesy and predictable most of the time, but it gets the message across in a very Paolo Coelho way. I still want to see a movie where our Lord Cage has a bad performance since this was not it.

Some standard holiday film fare here. Finding out family is the most important thing and all that crap. I didn't think it was too bad. Cage and Leoni work well together and Cheadle was fun in his small role. It definitely could have been better, but they all can't be "It's a Wonderful Life."

This is a charming picture, although it it's mainly carried by Nick. As it starts to draw to a close, it becomes less believable & more absurd somehow & maybe just too sappy. The return to more human values is interesting, of course he's still wildly successful & rich so i suppose he can afford it.

Look no further if you need to find the absolute pinnacle of what a cliche, shallow, cheeseball movie looks like. Some lines were so damn ridiculous it made me cringe "i choose us" Oh for christs sake! if you want to watch this film with any sort of charm, go watch a christmas carol or a wonderful life.

Original, charming and well thought out romantic drama comedy for that lazy sunday afternoon. Lighter on the comedy than the drama without it taking anything away from the enjoyment of the movie. If that's something you're looking for then you'd be hard pressed to find much better. That goes for xmas movies too. One of Cage's best performances

I switched this on in a hotel room partway through where Cage is watching home videos of himself singing love songs off key to a backyard full of the whitest people you've ever seen. I think I was so stunned this was taken seriously and not the stepping off point for one of THOSE Nick Cage films I watched the rest of it.

Genuinely underrated film. While the movie hangs on some eyerolling stereotypes of wealth classes, it uses this to great effect to create a sense of discomfort; rather than mockery, for Jack having to make such drastic changes to his identity and lifestyle. The movie lands hard on its theme of personal sacrifice and self-reflection; and while the movie does pull some lame cliches to explore this, its plot beats are given the nuance to give its emotional highs weight.

Brett Ratner tries his hand at Frank Capra, and the result is about what you'd expect. Obviously Ratner is a much lesser talent, and Nicolas Cage is no substitute for Jimmy Stewart, but this is a mildly enjoyable film that's so harmless as to be forgettable, while still accomplishing everything it means to. The cast makes it work, even when it shouldn't -- Cheadle especially. The man is just so far beyond Brett Ratner movies, and yet he keeps showing up in them.
