The horror scenes are generally pretty well-constructed, and the cinematography is excellent. I like this movie because it delves a little deeper than most horror I've seen, addressing many themes such as the psychological issues that arise as a result of relationships and the artificial nature of photographic art.

Not the most original premise ever but the jump scares are so good that I can't help but like any horror movie that actually keeps me on edge; it's pretty rare these days. The characterization could have used some work but it is overall an entertaining horror movie. The only real disappointment (for me) was regarding the anti-climactic conclusion that is a lot more absurd than it is chilling. Nonetheless, this is definitely worth seeking out so long as you don't have too high expectations.

A genuinely creepy movie. Though there are a few cheap "jump out of the closet" scares, they only add to the great psychological horror that builds throughout the film.

The film borrows heavily from popular asian horror movies such as Ringu. It has problems with pacing and the charecterization is pretty bad. I still liked the ending's literal (and also a bit comical) interpretation of how one cannot run away from their past actions.

A little weird, if you've already watched a lot of horror movies, there's nothing really new here. But I guess it's okay.

A solid, creepy genre exercise; builds a considerable amount of tension by not showing a great deal until the later stages, though the plot (and plotting) seems like more of an excuse to string the horror set-pieces together, with a finale that seems to be reaching for a greater resonance which it can’t quite do; as a nasty little wind-up box, it works perfectly – well performed by all, and genuinely unsettling and insidious at times, even managing to sell it’s slightly silly premise.

The original and it's just so good. One of the movies that Hollywood decided to remake and of course fail at. This one just creeps and creeps with an excellent ending. Must watch.

I liked this horror movie a lot. Maybe because the American version was THAT crap. Even not-that-great pacing was acceptable, because of some new and fresh horror effects and editing.

Neat little ghost story, but for me it fails to build suspense. It could be that the "spirit photography" device just doesn't work for me. Nice ending.

Up there with the Ringu series as my favorite J-horror. Extremely well done and subtly influential, "Shutter" nails all the aspects of a good horror by not overly resorting to jump scares, with the majority of the tension being psychological. Haven't seen the remake, don't intend to, but fuck it.

I enjoyed this movie. It kept my attention and kept me on edge through out most of the film.

The first half is mostly a slow eerie drama, where the ghosts does nothing but show up and leave. Luckily, the story is better than most ghosts movies, and there are some creepy moments late in the movie. I did see this after the US version (which I saw about a decade ago), so I unfortunately knew the twist. Could’ve been a lot better, but it’s a reasonable attempt.

Surprised (ok, not really) that it was re-made. Nothing new or original going on. Pretty sure I'd feel that way even if I had watched this first instead of the re-make.

I rented the original "Shutter" because a lot of people were claiming that while the newly released USA version of the movie was dreadful, the Thai version was actually pretty good. Simply put, I cannot imagine how this movie could be worse. It's dull, poorly directed and has gaping holes in the storyline. I sure hope Hollywood can put out a piece of garbage better than this piece of garbage!

To me, a really special and amazing horror film. Although the concept has been done a million times, It's still definetly worth a watch. Very creepy.

The camera work in the movie is good, 2-3 decent shots-that's all. Oh and also it's 92 mins so kind of tolerable in that sense.

This movie builds well and all, but I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe I just have too much trouble connecting to the WOOOOO IMAGES IN PHOTOS horror device to get drawn into what was otherwise a reasonably decent low key, slow burn of a horror movie. It didn't do anything badly at all, and the cinematography was actually real good, but I just... felt nothing.

One of the few Thai-films that I've seen, and I was rather impressed by the craftsmanship. It holds it's own against Japanese/South Korean and Chinese genre flicks. Too bad that aside from some local flavor, it follows the RIngu/Dark Water/Juon rulebook a bit too closely without bringing anything new to the table. Therefore you know where the story is going and when the jump scares are coming. It also loses some of the steam before the end. A well executed replica, but lacking it's own voice.
