The sequel to "American Ninja"(1985) has our heroes return for even more ninja action schlock. This follow-up manages to simply improve the technical qualities in some areas of the film while generally just striking a great balance of fun campy B-movie and so bad-it's-good moments throughout. My vote for the best movie in the franchise.

The sequel is actually slightly better than the first because Michael Dudikoff fights a ninja with a shotgun in this one. There's also some nice beach locations. The dialog in this movie also has limitless comedic value if you watch this while hammered off your ass.

Hilariously bad but I couldn't stop watching! The final fight between The Dudikoff and Main Bad Guy is crap though.

Move over Top Gun, I found the superior 80's homosexual-industrial complex motion picture.

Liked the first one a bit more for whatever reason, but this one delivers just as much clumsy action and even worse bad acting, so The Confrontation is a ton of fun as well. The Lion has to be one of the worst villains in film history.

I like how after years of genetic engineering, the test tube ninjas are all completely useless.

In 1987’s most anticipated cinematic event, Michael Dudikoff returns as Mr American Ninja. There be ninjas aplenty - jumping off rooftops, bursting through windows, coming out the walls in this flick. Supposed genetically enhanced super ninjas, but the scientists fucked up because Dudikoff still easily beats them five billion to one - OWNAGE! Hilarious bit where the military commander guy is all “WhAt ThE hELL aRe NiNjA?!!” like bro it’s 1987 you’re WAYYY behind here get with the program LMAO

Entertaining and not as bad as other ninja movies in the 80's.

Way too much frolicking in the beach at the start. An army captain soldier guy who’s in charge of people had no concept of what a ninja is. I was roundhouse kicked in the head hard by movie me end up liking time had movie weee.

Just trash. The titular white boy (and all of his unintentional clones) is especially uninteresting next to Steve James' character. IMDb says it well: "Steve James was often cast in action movies as the hero's sidekick, despite usually being a better actor and fighter than the star." (Culture Night Feature)

About as bad as the first, probably worse, but has the advantage of a less prominent love interest and better pacing. So it's a little less annoying to watch.

It has everything the first one had - a beautiful paradise setting, a hot 80s soundtrack, an evil ninja master to duel at the end, US forces guys charging into a ninja compound, but the action choreography seems much ropier than the first one, which - to be honest - was never convincing anyway. The first one I could praise for being one of the best of its type, on the understanding that it doesn't match anything coming out of Hong Kong - this feels like a step down, cheesy and fun though it is.

The first "American Ninja" showed us how eight year olds thought ninjas worked, this second one takes further steps into showing us how eight year olds think the army works. It's better this time around, but still brain melting stupidity.

This sequel is better paced since it doesn't have superfluous love-story, but the fights are even more wooden. Which is what counts most in these 80s action movies. The plot is so thin it barely exists. Like the prequel my enjoyment of this is heavenly influenced by a heavy dosy of nostalgia.
