Action movie, flooded town, Minnie Driver. We are now go for some exploitative wet t-shirt shots, right? Alas not. Do they teach these directors anything in film school?

Sorta-kinda-rather lame. Morgan Freeman never falters, though, even in crap.

When someone calls you on Sunday afternoon and asks what you're doing and you say "Nothin', just watchin' some tv." it is 92% mathematically certain that this is what you're watching.

Generic action flick. The problem was that people change sides so often you're not actually sure who you should be rooting for and you end up getting confused and frustrated

It is a rare occasion that Criticker gives me a PS less than what I have in mind. I can see why though, a formulaic action movie with not much else going on. But... it is a flooded set, with crazy stuff like jet-skiing in a school!!! That endless, torrent of rain brought me back to few occasions in my life when I was in a hurricane, typhoon, etc. and I really enjoyed that feeling; there was something crazy in it that appealed to me.

Watchable action and disaster movie mash-up strangely doesn’t do a great deal with its “floodwaters” conceit – outside of Slater’s escape from a prison cell, you could remove the water and it would make no difference to the plot thrust, and its inclusion makes a lot of the action play goofier than probably intended (especially the church shootout). A fun cast makes it go down easier, and props to (even then) elderly White and Asner who gamely take a pretty rough pounding from the elements.

Slater and Quaid are clearly not capable of starring in a major motion picture any longer, and how badly are you searching for actors when you need to scrape the bottom of the acting barrel to get TV stars Ed Asner and Betty White for supporting roles?

It is a surprisingly nice little action gem. The cast is solid with Christian Slater, Morgan Freeman, and Randy Quaid in the lead parts and there's plenty of action here to keep you entertained. It has some incredible set design and action sequences with water dominating almost every scene and it makes you question just how (and how expensively) this was accomplished. It's not going to provide you with surprises, but it's a solid action movie of the 90s.

Great action back and forth film. Slater is great, and the story is all over the place and a lots of water!

Not much of a story, not enough tension, good atmosphere, and you gotta love Morgan Freeman.

Viewed August 21, 2021. Extremely thin story mixed with some pretty exciting analog special effects. Its paced so rapidly that it just kinda works.

This never really gets moving, water just slows down the action.

It's got action, definitely so, but it's bland stereotypical action. I feel bad for Christian Slater, he really didn't deserve what became of his career.

Not without merit. It's got plenty of action, and great atmosphere, but at the same time it doesn't really leave a lasting impression. Maybe it's the unnecesarily fast pace?

Picked it up years ago on VHS. The videostore clerk winked and recommended it as a 'good action flick'. It was. No more no less.

Banal. So unepic it's unbelievable, it's almost like it was made for TV. Watch out for Morgan Freemans face when a speedboat comes through the church window. Timeless stuff.

I remember watching this film, but I don't remember anything else about it except that I didn't like it. If I didn't like it and can't remember it, it must be a shit film.

Okay so it's filmed in the dark, we don't get to see any breasts, and is has little regard for making sense. The action rarely lets up, half the lines are jokes, the sets are cool. Like "Titanic" without the extra two hours of filler.

Watchable disaster movie and crime thriller mashup from the times, when Christian Slater was a movie star. Can't find anything really good about it, but I've seen worse. Ok, when there's nothing else on TV.

I hate the title of this movie so much. And I like the movie itself more than I should. Other than Christian Slater who doesn't seem to know when to not give it his all, the entire cast phones it in. The movie is fairly by the numbers action flick. But I like the way the action and the shootouts were directed and it did not waste anything in its flooded-town setting--even if a few scenes screamed "SOUNDSTAGE". The flood premise makes this one very unique. One of my new guilty pleasures.
