30 Days of Night

Good premise let down by stupid characters making laughable decisions. Very poor handling of the timespan of the movie: 30 days whisk by once the protagonists go into hiding. Saved somewhat by sleek filming and a great setting.

I dig it. It's better than most other 'monster' movies.

i thought it was great! fisrt vampire movie to make me freak out! very scary and was so happy to finally see a vampire flick that scared the living day lights out of me. plus love josh hartnett, soo hot!

Left me dissapointed as I'm sure it left a bunch of other horror fans who were expecting much more. Well at least the vampires at humans instead of squirrels and whatnot.

If it weren't for the fact that I rode to this movie with someone I'd have walked out. I still almost did in spite of that. A plot that makes no sense executed with consistent clumsiness lands this movie on the list of things I hate. Wouldn't it have made more sense for the Vampires to not be so obvious about their feeding? You know, leaving heads on sticks and dismembered torsos laying around, instead of killing everyone to hide the fact that they're vampires? Apparently someone disagrees.

"The best vampire movie ever." Albeit by a nonfan of the genre, that's a bold statement. I have to agree - mostly. This movie is made great by the excellent directing of David Slade. Elements not noticed or appreciated by most turned this prettygood story into a great film. It's graphic, shocking, and chilling, but never gratuitous. The story takes place in Barrow, Alaska, the country's northernmost town. This tale truly takes place in a vacuum with no help or communication of any kind

Exciting, bloody, sometimes even scary film with good atmosphere. Yet very predictable and sometimes it lacks logic. Refreshing, that the vampires are for once again the uncivilized bloodthirsty beasts.

Scary as shit. Some of the most frightening noises I've ever heard.

Heavily cliched and terribly acted (how has Harnett a career?) if competently directed.

This movie is pretty much just the sum of its parts. It has really incredible imagery in some scenes, and there are one or two somewhat chilling sequences, but it doesn't go beyond that. The acting is average, along with the story and most of the film.

Solid performances and a fantastic premise are muddled by a slow, repetitive story and several cliche'd moments. On top of that, several crucial story elements are either lazily explained or never explained at all, and the vampires have little character to make them interesting. That said, they're also portrayed in a truly terrifying way & were an overall highlight. The ending, though, was not. Gritty and disturbing at times, ridiculous and goofy at others, it's a mixed bag of a movie.

Although this isn't a bad film and visually it looks excellent, it just didn't do it for me. Probably worth a look, but I found it quite slow and Josh Hartnett looked a tad to young for the role.

Fun but brainless vampiric romp in the snow. They could've had something sweet with that ending, but they totally dropped the ball...

120 Minutes of Shite
