I have to say, I enjoyed it simply because it was fun. The social messages are still rife, and obviously there are times when it just gets silly, but for my money, very few people do zombies the way Romero can.

On rewatch it's pretty derp. Characters who've been doing a job for years stop and explain what they're doing, an idiot wants 5 million dollars in money that's worthless outside a place he's now banished from, and a big zombie cries a bunch. Worth watching for Hopper and the big Samoan. It sucks that people waited 20 years for this. Oh and George dont ever end a movie like that again, but i doubt you'll have another one so don't worry.

Less subtle social commentary than previous Romero Dead films (not that they were ever subtle), but a great film that holds its own against modern horror flicks. It expands well on the zombie mythos laid down in Day of the Dead (shame Bub couldn't have been the lead zombie) while showing that Romero can still deliver almost 40 years after the his first contribution to the series. Less tense and more action-oriented than the previous films, but a lot of fun.

it doesn't always work, but it's still a fantastic piece of horror-satire from the original master. Also its always nice to see Dennis Hopper in a real movie again.

A particularly horrendous George Romero film. At its absolute best it's incredibly mediocre all the way through, featuring little of merit beyond a couple of nice ideas rounded off by an utterly incomprehensible ending sequence. Seems Romero has pretty much lost sight of the genre he helped establish.

A disappointment from the master of zombie horror. Has again some nice social commentary, but more obvious than in the original trilogy, thus losing much of its power.

Bad characters and worse acting followed by hamfisted attempts at social lecturing really hurt this movie. I tried really, really hard to like this movie since it has a lot of good ideas but nothing comes out of it.

Zombies are people too! Sure, they killed hundreds of children in that shanty town, but hey, they were just looking for a place they could call their own. Romero needs to stay away from telling a story, and stick to zombies eating intestines.

Shows how much the original trilogy's success was due to the time and circumstances in which they were made. Over the years Romero seems to have become kinda captive to his own creation and lost touch with the whole process. This film with its blunt social commentary & awkward tone plays like a pastiche of the directors early work without even the anarchic self-awareness of say Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Not utterly terrible but as a fan of the originals I found it hard going.

Wasn't too bad as a standalone zombie flick if you can forgive the zombies actually thinking and firing weapons. I felt like it subverted the obvious at the end.

The bad: the dialogue is fucking horrible, and there's never any real sense of peril. I also would have liked it if the economy was explained a bit more, but maybe it's for the best that we're supposed to accept it on faith. The so-so: Romero's commentary on class division is appreciated, but it doesn't run very deep. The good: great makeup, some clever kills, and it's never boring.

A good mix of satire, gore, competent acting, special effects and cool sets. Everything Day of the Dead should have been, but wasn't. The breakneck pace can be a bit much for the average viewer though, and Land of the Dead takes repeat viewings to completely digest.

It seems like every zombie movie has the same problem come up at some point; a former friend is bitten, slowly (or not so slowly) turns, and then one of the living is forced to confront it. This person almost always has the means to destroy this former comrade but can't do it, whereupon another group member has to yell "That thing's not your friend/brother/mom/whatever anymore, man! It's one of THEM now!" Anyway, I thought that was going to happen here, so the movie scored big points when

Not Romero's best, however it's still a more than adequate zombie flick. As ever, it contains Romero's social commentary, paired with great violent horror movie scenes. I was amused to see Asia Argento, given her relation to Dario Argento, who makes the same type of films as Romero. Compared to the horror movies of today, it's practically a masterpiece. Still, it's a good, but not great addition to the "Dead" series.

George Romero does what he does best, zombies. The plot development takes a bit out of the brainless zombie fun out of it, and some of the subtleness of the political commentary is gone. Still, it's zombies, and still, it kicks reanimated ass.

From now on I will view all films with little expectations of it being worth a crap. That way I will rarely be disappointed. I rolled into this expecting a pretty awful followup to Romero's earlier work. I was quite surprised this wasn't bad at all. Of course that was seeing it through unjaded eyes...pretty unclimactic ending though.

This smells like a TV pilot, which isn't particularly a good thing for a movie but could be for any executive smart enough to see the potential. The story of the guys in the Dead Reckoning (and there's your title, that or World of the Dead) would make a great episodic series. Less gratuitous gore would be needed though.
