Remember that time there was an apocalypse and Dudley Moore shouted obscenities at you from a weather balloon? Yeah, neither do I, but I'd bet you a shepherd's pie he was wearing a bowler hat.

Post-apocalyptic England looks amazing.

Lunacy - but I suppose that's rather the point. Not everything works but what does is funny - Cook's monologue ending the film on a comedic highpoint. I have to say it's one of the best post-apocalyptic movies I've seen in terms of looks - besting even Letters from a Dead Man in its representation of a city laid to ruin. Perhaps as a Brit it had extra resonance that the Russian movie couldn't capture.

Feels like an early bizarre mash-up of Monty Python and Mad Max. It's totally absurd, and quite surreal, but it carries quite a bit of charm primarily on account of its likeable assortment of oddball British actors. The dialogue is curiously enjoyable too, Milligan and Antrobus not deviating far from what they're known for. Won't be for everyone, but could be worth a look if you like random Brit nonsense.

Unbelievable cinematography. This is 1960s Britain as you've never seen it before.

plays more like a bizarre skit compilation, rather than a movie. there are some very intriguing and amusing scenes here, but nothing made me laugh. if you're into post-apocalyptic movies, there have sure been some strange ones made, but this takes the cake.

Not that great but holds up as an interesting curio. It's probably one of the weirdest and senselessly surreal things I've ever seen, which is certainly no small achievement in itself.

Dated, unfunny British farce involving a post-apocalyptic wasteland and the "kooky" survivors of WW3.

Richard Lester's adaptation of Spike Milligan's play is not terribly funny ha ha, but it's funny strange in an amusing fashion. It's also a pretty sharp satire of England and how it faces adversity.

Might be worth seeing just for its strangeness alone, but I found this post-apocalyptic film almost entirely unfunny and often kind of bizarrely annoying. The sets are pretty good. Odd film, though.
