Dave Ming Chang (Eddie Murphy), newly arrived in New York City, may be the ultimate fish out of water. There's something about him that's not quite right - for starters, he seems remarkably out of place and uncomfortable in his own body. And for good reason: "Dave" is not a man at all, but a ship made in the image of its miniature-sized captain. It's Eddie Murphy in Eddie Murphy in "Meet Dave".

This is a weak, amateurish, and stupid movie, made in the middle of Murphy's regrettable "I'mma get paid" phase. Unless you're dying to see 90 minutes of Murphy mugging, mincing, and gadding about, skip it.

Murphy's career went downhill fast after M.D, but its reputation as a turkey appears largely motivated by groupthink. Yes it's silly, and Murphy's accent changes with alarming regularity (both within scenes and between them) but the concept is original, and there are some genuine laughs watching Dave adapt awkwardly to his new human surroundings. The effects are inventive, especially given its medium budget. Its undeniably limited by the fact that it's a kid's film, but it's too odd to hate.

Like many modern comedies, this one was one draft short. Has some great moments, but the rediculously gay guy, some of the toilet humour and a few un-needed scenes kill this. And the ending could be written on a napkin, in 10 minutes, and probably was. Could have been a return to form for Murphy, but ended up being the usual recent dissapointment

Eddie Murphy *used* to be funny. Sadly, his movies are starting to feel like an upmarket Martin Lawrence skit. The jokes were lame and predictable. The special effects looks dated, and the plot was lifted from a seven year old's imagination. It may appeal to six year olds' though.

Well despite the huge logical gap (why miniature humans do not understand how to run a large human body), the initial parts of Dave discovering his body had a nice comical cadence. It is pretty thin but as a kind of situational comedy it nearly works.

Eddie Murphy, what happened? You used to be a funny guy. The guy we could rely on to generate some solid laughs when we went to the movies. The last time he did that was in 2003 with Daddy Day Care. This awful comedy about a race of tiny aliens operating a human-shaped capsule that looks like Eddie Murphy had to have sounded better on paper. The jokes are worthless and the cast is wasted.

Excellent premise, terrible execution. It's pretty much 1 point for the film and 29 points for Elizabeth Banks.

I expected a lot from this flick, but story and jokes sucks. A space ship can make emergency landing on a head, no problem, but a small hit in a head put them out of control. Entertainment for kids. Haven't seen such low level effects for a long time.

OK it's a poor story, no actually a worthless story, and yes most of the time it is emberassing rather than funny but still, I had a few good laughs. Surely not a very good comedy, but then again, which one is these days?

Underrated flick with Murphy playing two roles. It's actually fairly clever for a family film, some of the ideas are interesting and well done. Murphy is good and the supporting cast as well, and there are a few chuckles to be had.

I got a soft spot for Eddie Murphy. Of course i know how terrible this movie is. How incredibly lame and childish the jokes are. How silly the script and story are. Still i managed to chuckle here and there. I know, terrible of me.So sue me!

Not believable on any level. Crazy guy you hit with a car acting like a robot, I'm not gonna let him in my home, or fall in love with him if I were a girl. Honestly I wouldn't even let Eddie Murphy in my home nowadays. The acting was weak and as much as I like Elizabeth Banks, her acting was worst of all. Had a stupid predictable ending, that didn't even end at the logical point. I will say out of all the new Murphy films, this one is better than most.

I wanted to like this but just couldn't. The idea has been covered in book form ("alright, everybody get off the planet"). That was a lot better

"Contrary to what its altogether hideous advertising campaign would have you think, the latest collaboration between Eddie Murphy and Norbit director Brian Robbins is not, in fact, the worst movie ever made." - Rob Humanick

Remember when Eddie Murphy was funny? Yeah, apparently he doesn't either, because this has nothing in common with any of his good work. Dumb premise, dumb writing, and a metric ton of childish unfunny "jokes" make Meet Dave one of the biggest misses for a comedy I've seen in years.

Another movie in the kid-friendly Eddie collection. Nothing really stands out about it. I don't remember how inappropriate it was or if it was even worse than the PG rating it got, but it wasn't the worst movie I've seen. It's just somewhat forgettable.

Meet Dave is nowhere near as bad as I'd been led to believe. Okay, so it's a kid's film and as such makes little sense in many parts, but the target audience won't care and I have to admit to giggling far too much at some of the daft gags on show. In fact, were it not for the final third when the silliness dries up as the film tries to add some drama (and plot) it would have earned a solid three stars. Not great, but one of the worst films ever made? Not even close.
