Great thriller with a great plot. Great acting trough whole the cast. Another plus is the typical Bart De Pauw-humor. But most of all , the film just looks amazing. Great camerawork and beautifull settings. The endscene wasn't necessary. Looking forward to an American remake, wich I predict will definately come.

If I had to guess one of Van Looy's favorite directors, I'd say Christopher Nolan, both very good at creating multilayered plots and making sure there are no loose ends. But you care so much about it, that eventually you lose interest in the characters involved and you don't have that much sympathy for them. Still, it's a smart thriller and one Belgium should be proud of. I think he should direct an American film one day (or a possible remake) since dutch ain't my favorite language...

Stylish thriller, competently directed and written, featuring a Belgian all star cast in good form but ultimately a bit too hollow to really stick to the bones.

Very beautiful cinematography and a suspenseful score in a clever thriller that kept surprising me. In the beginning the film seemed too 'easy', but towards the end that feeling disappeared. The film is accompanied by some great Bart de Pauw humor without being annoying, and the performances from the actors are all very good, from some better than I've ever seen from them. All in all I was pleasantly surprised by this film, and I can proudly say that this is a 100% Belgian film.

Nice! Amazing editing style, plot with insane amount of twists and turns, plus a good soundtrack. A really awesome brainstorming movie.

A bit of a let down for me, this one. The first thirty minutes stand out as being particulary non-captivating, slow and meandering. Van Looy favours form too much over substance. The cast does a very good job overall with some exceptions (I'm looking at you, Maaike Cafmeyer). It has a huge plothole concerning a farewell-letter and the final scene is utterly superfluous. Also, why is Jan Declair in EVERY movie from Belgium?

Loft is a movie I was more excited about as it was playing than after it ended. It's stylistically fine and individual scenes are edited fine, but the film as a whole cheats in order to hide information from the audience so that there's no chance that we'll be able to solve its mystery. That its characters are so despicable and yet we're supposed to root for them really hurts the film, too. Loft leaves you with a nasty taste in your mouth afterward.

Starts off well and carries it almost all the way across the finish line. By the end I was slightly disappointed with all the convolutions of the story and rather unexplored character motivations and repercussions, but I realize that might come down to taste, genre and a trade-off against tempo. There's spotty acting in some of the minor parts, but it can be overlooked. Ultimately a stylish neo-romantic thriller, decently acted, some very intense scenes and an intriguing plot.

Nice premise, perfect characterizing, good actors, excellently decorated loft - in and out, brilliantly build story. The half of the movie was maybe a bit searching it's path, but the conclusion was marvelous.

I watched this months after watching the 2015 remake and what a difference! It's essentially the same story but the execution is vastly superior.

Quick random thoughts: could this be modern age Dangerous Liasions? The final scene maybe goes with the character but not really with the film, should be cut in my opinion. At some point I thought "This is just like Mr. Brooks, a bit more and it would be overdone". Perverts everywhere, great performances everywhere, morals nowhere; I like. All in all - time well spent

A nifty Belgian whodunit that deserves a much larger international audience.

A whodunnit that you can figure out in the first few minutes and then experience a bunch of twists and turns that lead back to your very first guess. Also marred by boring cinematography and paper-cutout characters.

Adultery is a serious business in this multi-layered Belgian thriller. It does everything by a book - non-linear plot, twists and turns, everything that usually works. But the story isn't very convincing, and the plot holes starts showing up. Although, ensemble cast does a great job, none of the characters are likable. In the end, it's a decent European mainstream thriller. Knowing Hollywood trends, it's bound to be remade.

This plot-driven twister's contrived turns strain believability, but that doesn't make it any less fun. Feels like a European Mamet production. Slick, well-acted, full of beautiful people doing mostly awful things. Good times!
