I enjoyed it, it was entertaining, but nothing more than that. Thought it would be funnier, I didn't really expect the sad ending, but maybe that's a good thing. Actually all the funny moments in the movie we can already see in the trailer, and that's certainly not a good thing. On the other hand, I could really recognize myself in Owen Wilson. If you are a doglover, you have to see this movie.

Marley & Me makes such an excellent novel because it is so heartfelt, written firmly grounded in the real world and injecting the all too familiar everyday humour that dog owners have come to know and love. Unsurprisingly, this is exactly where the film adaptation goes totally wrong. Unmistakably over-polished to a caricature of Hollywood standards, immediately labelled as a comedy and carelessly slapped with big names, it looses the simple realism and pleasure of the novel. Wilson is damn poor.

You just can't grow up watching stuff like the original _Halloween_ and _Mad Max_ and _Eraserhead_ and then like something as hidebound and conformist as this movie. It's sweeter-spirited and less distasteful than, say, _Four Christmases_, but it's just so... NORMAL. And completely laughless, to boot

Very good at doing what it sets out to do, show us an upper class suburban life from a couple just getting married and starting to settle down to seeing their kids begin to grow up. It generally keeps the mood appropriate with light bits of comedy. I didn't like the dog, though, and that beast is central to the story so some parts, especially the ending, got really tedious. If you like dogs and movies with a little bit of sappiness you'll love this.

If you want a story about a cute dog causing trouble, Marley & Me isn't for you, as the dog doesn't become the primary focus of the film. Instead, we get to watch a couple begin to raise a family, and deal with all of the problems that arise in this task. The film tries to hit hard emotionally, but it fails to do so. The dog is cute, and the parts of the film that focus on it are fun, but the rest of the film is too boring and long to bother with. It's not terrible, but it isn't great either.

As a sucker for cute dog movies, this is fundamentally miscalculated; presenting Marley as a prop “Dog From Hell” with little redeeming qualities, the abrupt turn to gushy emotion at the finale feels unearned and manipulative because the audience is never sold on Marley as a character, or the connection between him and his owners. It leaves the film an overlong, cloying experience with its best moments weighted near the beginning, especially Turner’s spin-off worthy militaristic dog trainer.

A truly excellent adaption from the book. This movie will make you laugh and cry. Good acting by all the stars including the dogs that are used to make it. Something rare and wonderful has been acheived here. The Only caution I would give is that the ending will touch you like few movies and may be too intense or bittersweet for highly sensitive children etc.so keep the tissues handy.

If you're going to make a movie about a dog, make the dog the central character and give him a personality, don't make me watch 90 minutes of Owen Wilson & Jennifer Aniston's family planning and clichéd American Dream lives. The dog here had less personality than Beethoven, and his parts were largely tacked on at the start and end. Also, this was a family movie and I was disappointed with the lack of nudity, rudeness and dirty humour that would have gone hand-in-hand with the dog theme.

Rather than settling into "Beethoven" territory, the script plays the dog story loosely and lets the relationship between Aniston and Wilson act as the film's circulation. It is enjoyable, moving, and well-acted, and certainly not a kids' movie. There's a lot of adult themes, relational drama and innuendos throughout - nothing overly saturating, but still prominent. "Marley & Me" is a pleasant surprise, and especially a sure bet for dog lovers.

Marley & Me gets a lot of stick, but I have to admit I have a soft spot for this film. It plods along at a pretty un-engaging pace and doesn't have much direction. But there is undeniable heart to this film, the characters are likeable and all the dogs playing Marley at various ages are all great. Wilson and Aniston give the bare minimum. Arkin steals the show whenever he makes an appearance. As a comedy this falls flat, but as a heartwarming family film, it's relatable, emotional and likeable.

A very touching movie that most dog lovers can really relate to. Owen Wilson does a pretty decent job, but is clearly overshadowed by Jennifer Aniston. The extra characters really didn't add much to the movie except for Alan Arkin's character. Love the dog training scene in the beginning thoough.

I wouldn't watch it again, because I cried my eyes out! I just can't do dog movies. This was ok, it revolved more around the growing family than the dog. And the scene where the dogs are set free on the beach is possibly one of the happiest, greatest scenes ever. I wouldn't consider this movie a comedy though.

A sad doggie story. The cast did not fit for me, coz Jennifer is simply the FRIENDS grl and Owen is too much a comedy guy. Have to say, this is not really Beethoven kind of thing. It still has some good points and one can take a lesson from this. To sum this up, its a cute family background movie.

You will not find a bunch of bow-wow humor in Marley and Me; this is not a Disney movie. While the pooch in the majority of scenes, it is never the central character. Instead, Owen West is the focal point. The story is about his maturing relationship with his wife, his growing of a family, and his rising career in print media. This being said, Marley and Me does carry a very loud message, especially toward the end of the movie, about how pets are REAL family members. Very well made movie.
