The best parts by far are those in which the Fab Four are let loose - their mischievousness is endearing - which does not happen enough (the filler is often a bit of a drag). The opening scene, with George and Ringo falling over, is a highlight. The music, obviously, is fabulous. Peter Watkins definitely saw this before making 'Privilege' (recognising, of course, that he was referencing the popular music movement of the 1960s more generally).

I loved the film. It's the Beatles, and they were really happy appearing for the first time in the big screen.

See it. It's what life was like once. Innocent and pure.

My favorite Beatles movie. Never fails to cheer me up if I'm feeling down.

A better rock movie has yet to be made. Great fun, outstanding music, and Wilfred Brambell's clean old man.

Almost as good as being right in the middle of Beatlemania. Theyre still the best band of all time.

Actually prefer this to Help!

While pacing is at times a bit awkward for a music film, this is pretty fun look at some of the best times of maybe the most interesting band in all time. Help! later on will have perhaps better rhythm and groove going on, while this one features maybe more interesting dialogues and some tighter scenes.

2/26/19 - This was one of the first films I rated on Criticker. Great songs, light on plot, but the banter between the characters is amusing. 8/12/22 - Adjusted rating

Maybe the most charming film ever. Wonderful songs, timelessly good-looking cinematography, and four loveable young chaps game for a laugh.

OK, despite its general high regard it would be pretty easy to dislike this film, probably depending upon whether you like The Beatles in the first place. But there is just such a sense of joy and fun at the centre of the movie, and some of the dialogue and jokes are killer. Ringo is definitely the star- his preparedness for self-parody is brilliant.
