Kick-Ass is the most kick ass movie of the summer. Not only is it not stop fun, but it also teaches a valuable moral. The movie will be an enjoyable ride for some but for others it will be a violent and immoral roller coaster.

Better at being meta than at being good, there are some fun inversions of superhero tropes in Kick-Ass, and the extremity of its violence is fitting, but there's never a great balance between the action and school elements. The teenagers don't feel believable (much of the script reads like a Newsweek story about kids on the internet), and the action scenes have to be too heavily edited to conceal the realities of using a 12 year old action lead. It's fun enough with the brain turned off though.

This movie can't decide if invincible superheroes do (hitgirl) or don't (kick-ass) exist. After the first half hour the hero named Kick-Ass has no real role to play in this movie anymore, and the movie suddenly changes lead-role and story. So the first half of the movie doesn't need the second half of the movie and vice versa.

Fun, violent, inventive, smart, and a helluva good time in a movie theatre. You need to be able to laugh at a cool eleven year old kid who chops off legs and torture scenes, and the "red mist" character is just not as well thought out and played as the rest - but at least if you enjoyed Zombieland I believe you'd enjoy this as well.

This movie starting as a magical realism piece/teenage fantasy falls on you like an exhilaration bomb, leaving you to dream of vigilantism and greatness.

Kick-Ass features over-the-top violence, lots of funny moments, a great soundtrack, an involving and sometimes pretty deep story, many interesting characters. But it is Hit-Girl who is the obvious star of this movie, and as such, she elevates the movie from being really good to excellent. Morally reprehensible? Maybe. Incredible, adrenaline-releasing fun? Indeed.

Great well rounded movie. Rarely do you find a movie that has everything, Comedy, Action, Touching Moments and great gritty writing. This has everything you'd want in a film and more. See this film!

I went into this movie not expecting much. I really thought it would be a terrible movie. Well, seems I was wrong and I actually enjoyed this film. Though Nick(TAKE COVER CHIIIILD) Cage and that little nerdy kid from Superbad that I want to punch, I thought all the other actors were fine. It actually had a very good story and the action in it was pretty good. Don't judge a book by its cover.

Boring, poorly-executed. God himself could emerge from his mighty throne room to declare this movie good and I would spit in his face and accept damnation.

It's not only a comedy, it also shows that being a hero is not a clean and easy thing. Also, sometimes it is very realistic.

nice twist: the movie has a "there are no action heros" narrative in parallel to an action hero plot. fabulous scene when the action-non-heros fight each other in the room next to the action hero fighting the villain. great fun.

Over the top and extremely funny. there were times I couldn't stop laughing because of the absurdity. I didn't really like the whole red mist idea, but I forgive them, because the rest of the movie made up for it :)

I haven't read the comic book but the film was a total blast! Everything about it was E-P-I-C! I have to say that I was totally freaked out when I saw Nicholas Cage but OK, he was decent in this one. Kick-Ass as a character and his evolution throughout the film is a kick-ass, Hit-Girl's performance was outstanding and Red Mist seems quite promising as a wannabe villain. There are of course some clichés but the film is such an entertaining one that you don't even care about them.

Cute little film. First half has its lows & highs, but it is during the second half that it comes around to a glorious feel-good finish. Its fun. Its one of the better adaptations of a comic style narrative to come this year. And strangely, Hit-girl - with the costumes and all the cool deadly action (that belies her age) - came to me as one of the sexy female comic book characters brought to life. And when she takes away the costume - she becomes a normal child of her age. Thats got to be weird.

every super hero movie (besides watchmen and batman) should take some serious notes from kick-ass. First of all comics are violent and usually bloody so i dont understand why anyone would make a pg-13 superhero movie. Sure every now and then its nice to be able to watch one with the family but if they truly want to capture the pure insanity and carnage of a battle scene in ironman or wolverine then they need to beef it up to 14a or R. Thats when you make something as amazing as kick ass.

Kick-Ass has much more mature themes than it lets on, though underneath is the same ol' high school comingofageboygetsgirl. Whatever punch you want to pull on Kick-Ass, there's an underlying self-mockery ready to roll with it. That's what keeps it highly watchable, though not necessarily incredible

I didn't realise until the end that it was based on graphic novels. I thought perhaps it was an antimatter consideration to the world of comic books. I certainly thought it was a lighter treatment of the genre, more a Guardians than a Captain America. Enjoyable but not a knock out.

Very good movie. I really want to see it again. Chloe is awesome. Also, I love how crazy Nicolas Cage is. From IMDb trivia: Nicolas Cage came up with his character's "disguise": that his civilian identity would have a mustache, while "Big Daddy" would have an even larger mustache via adhesive extensions. That was so weird. I loved it.

This was not at all what I expected it to be, but not bad nonetheless. It's characters are likeable and the plot is kinda fun. It's entertaining and a really a-typical superhero movie. Also it's probably the best thing Nicholas Cage has done in years. Worth a watch, but not much more than that.

A great movie with awesome cinematography. The crash-zoom when Big Daddy fires that shotgun is so bitching. All the fight scenes in this film are great and the gun play is inspired. It had this frustrating 'made to be liked by generic douchebags' vibe to it though that becomes evident when you look at the unnecessary romance and some of the the supporting characters. Also the name in itself is very 'Lesbian Vampire Killers' / Mega Shark vs Giant Octopus'. Still, an awesome watch.

I may well have liked this film better had I seen it some 20 years ago. As it is, I am getting very weary of these Millar/Morrison hyper-violent comic adaptations, whose main virtue seems to be being as transgressive as possible in a geek-friendly manner.

Action comedy about an average teenager determined to become a superhero despite his lack of super powers, and forges an alliance with a couple of other fledgling superheroes. Kicks beaucoup d'ass, in some of the dandiest, most punishing stunt work this side of Hong Kong, but it forces the grownups in the audience to acknowledge that the action is as troubling as it is gorgeous.... smart it is. Smart, important and deadly.

Good old comic books. Now we can safely snuggle up in our beds, safe in our delusional alternate reality, convinced that the real world can't hurt us. That's why I think this movie is so smart. It reminds you that what you want isn't realism. You want the fantasy. You see, Kick-Ass isn't a comic-book satire. It is satirizing the audience and their desire for reality. Their desire for violence. And it does a great job of doing just that.
