Flawed but fascinating. The story is ambitious and a bit of a mess, but the music and effects are hypnotic as hell. Worth your time, and rewards repeat viewings.

Daft Punk! Great visuals! And a fully retarded storyline with useless emotional exposition ("i would've traded it all for one more day with you!"... uhm, seriously?) taking up precious time that could've been spent exploring Le Grid. It starts of great and gets gradually worse, as we abandon races on The Grid, crazy boomerang disc fights and general awesomeness for nonsensical bullcrap with CGI Jeff Bridges and Old "The Dude"-esque Jeff Bridges. Also. ISO's? Why were they even in movie?

Yes, the film is at times extremely poorly written and acted, the third act doesn't work, and some things are just plain weird (the partial usage of the Inception score, Jeff Bridges talking like The Dude). But what a world it creates. The Grid is simply mesmerizing, and the film greatly takes advantage of the unique possibilities of its universe to create spectacular and breathtaking action sequences. And who can resist the retro-fabolous Daft Punk-soundtrack?

A visually stunning film with a great soundtrack. There's some good action to be found, but the scipt is really poor. Thankfully, the music and effects help you to ignore the dialogue.

It's pure visual spectacle. The plot is undoubtedly average and quite frankly it doesn't really make much sense but at least it wasn't cringeworthy and the movie as a whole exuded a certain kind of charm. Despite its shortcomings, I still found it to be an engaging (if unremarkable) experience.

Pretty much an incredibly good-looking nerdtacular film with very little to no substance. But that's okay, because it never set out to try and be anything more than that. So what if the story is a lame biblical analogy? I was too busy having my mind blown by the Daft Punk Soundtrack and Special Effects. And So what if it lacked emotionally? I was far more concerned with exploring an incredibly fantastical world. Sometimes good escapism really is more important in films.

Overlong. Bad writing. Super-bland young actor. Moments of laughably over-done sentiment. Others of eyerollingly clumsy exposition. If you can overlook these many flaws, it's rather enjoyable. The score is cool, yet almost criminally derivative, and the women are pretty. So are the visuals (which couldn't exactly be said for the original 'Tron'!). I appreciated the exercise of creating a young Bridges. Oh, for the record, Jeff: If I want to spend time with the Dude, I'll put on The Big Lebowski.

The first half or so is exhilarating stuff. Light cycles on the grid were insanely cool, Daft Punk score and cameo were very well utilized and Sheen was great in a supporting role. If only that was the whole adventure. Its quite anti-climatic, young Bridges isn't quite pulled off, old Bridges is an uneven character and the relationship arc will lead to obvious jokes. There were some aspects I loved but glaring flaws and questionable leaps of logic by some characters hold this back.

Well, for one, if you were impressed by the 3D in Avatar, you shouldn't hesitate. I haven't seen many 3D films but The Grid here is scaringly well made. The first hour is sublime, with a nice Gotham-like feeling and tension building up nicely. Then comes the part where you'll be blown away by the 3D. Then it just softens up too much, and you end up waiting for nothing else than the next 3D show-off. Still, a great tribute to the good old Tron idea. Oh and best movie score 2010. Daft Punk ftw!

Proof that RottenTomatoes is full of it. An exiting thrill ride with a brain. Jeff Bridges is always awesome! A lot of critics dislike the implausibility of the Tron films, but they don't realize that the new-age techno-mysticism is what makes Tron such good science fantasy. I loved the way the system was imbued with the aspects of its creators in the first one, and I love the way this one contrasts a programmer "creating" life and life actually coming into being. Plus, Olivia Wilde is hot.

The only thing good about this, is the somewhat cool computerworld, but it's only a matter of time before you get tired of watching neon lines... The script is horrible, therefore also the acting and whats up with Bridges turning into The Dude more than once? Overall... I liked the first half hour, after that it got boring and the film doent explain the world clearly enough which results in an indefferent attitude towards the whole film!

Yes there are some flaws (young CGI-Bridges, the final aerial battle) but when a movie looks (the computerworld just looks spectacular in every detail) and sounds (Daft Punk...enough said) as awesome as this one you just have to ignore those minor flaws. Make no mistake:in terms of CGI-Style over substance movies this one is lightyears ahead of dreck like Speed Racer, Star Wars(New Trilogy), Transformers and similar movies.

Not highly likely to win many new converts, but for those who already like the original and want to see more, it satisfies. Wonderful visual evolution from Tron and the father/son story is touching. The CGI face they for Jeff Bridges is not perfect, but works well with just a few exceptions. I feel that they have bridged the uncanny valley here. The Daft Punk score is beautiful. It's very suggestive of the original but with plenty of today's newer sensibilities mixed in.

Rides the wave of the original's cult status , alternating between tedious and arousing moments (love me some lightcycle scenes). Suffice to say, you can feel the makers gave it their best shot: the costumes are about as idiosyncratic as they come and Daft Punk's trippy, electrifying soundtrack perfectly befits the atmosphere, almost carrying the film single-handedly. Would've had a greater time had the script not been such a joke.

If anything then Daft punk, really good CGI and actors makes this movie worth a watch. Of all actors was G.Hedlund only disappointment since all others were nothing but great. Although the script isn't brilliant, there is ample references to other films. The worst I can say about movie is unused potential in 3D.

Great everything really. 3D, or lack thereof, was a nice touch, action was exciting(specially anything to do with motorcycles), soundtrack was kicking ass all over the place, references were not rare and well appreciated, Sheen created another memorable supporting character and, of course, the "I am not your father" line almost killed me. The Matrix meets Star Wars.

Tron: Legacy is a visually and audibly spectacular film however it's brought down gaping and easily fixable plot problems. How are the ISO's going to be able to give us new insight into religion, the universe and able to cure disease? We're told they can but the film never even brushes on how. Why did Flynn become corrupted? He just did, WELL THEN. Still it looks great with a fantastic soundtrack and Jeff Bridges as a hippie computer genius (who is spot on for the 80's) is entertaining.

I admire the attempt to expand the TRON mythos, even if expanding the scope of the story occasionally makes things somewhat chatty and boring. ...okay, the story is a mess and full of logic holes, but at least they tried. Mainly the film is recommendable if only for some dazzling action sequences and gorgeous visuals, but it's not devoid of decent performances. Olivia Wilde is surprisingly good here, & of course Michael Sheen is watchable in anything. It's nothing special, but I had a good time.

I mean, I'll believe pigs can fly if it's delivered in a just decently entertaining fashion - Tron Legacy is not. The charm, fun and sense of adventure ride from the original has been digitally replaced by 3D that's _not_ close to Avatar standards. On top of that Garrett Hedlund is such an uninteresting action hero, he' almost Sam Worthington-bad... On the upside? It contains the best ass on film in 2010(!)

I love the original Tron, and this movie more than satisfied my want for a Tron sequel. The plot is strong enough in concept, but not particuarly well executed, and the script is bordering on mentally challenged. But none of this matters. "Legacy" is a visual masterpiece, with the perfect Daft Punk soundtrack. This movie pressed all my nerdy Tron buttons. In short; light-cycles = fucking awesomeness...

Even teens would prefer a hero who took an utterly new universe less in stride, or was less instantly capable of competing against the most graceful of opponents in a disc competition even though we've never even seen him hold a Frisbee. Insights in2 this world r just as absent: there's a night club but what r the programs on break from? If 1/10 of the time spent on CGI was spent refining IDEAS this'd be more than great eye-candy

Jeff Bridges eats up the screen as the zen master Kevin Flynn, with marvellous turns from Garrett Hedlund, Michael Sheen and all the cast, while the director shows us exactly why CGI was invented! Daft Punk's score throws Wendy Carlos score for the original out of the window quite rightly, and all of these elements combine to make a masterpiece! 5 points deducted for CGI C.L.U. and narrative lulls, however.

A mess of good and bad elements. The lead man is absolutely boring, entirely uncharismatic, and overall a terrible actor. But Jeff Bridges does very well (duel performances, of sorts), Michael Sheen has a lot fun with his Bowie impression, and Olivia Wilde ... looks nice. But the overall problem/quality of the film is that it's so technically awesome, but doesn't quite have the effect that it should be having (keyword being 'quite').

As much as I hated the updated Tron I was pleased they kept the 80s output, since the story went on from where the original Tron ended. It was a wise and logical decision to do. Like that, Tron was and still is with this sequel focused for minorities. Actually the plot of sequel followed pretty obediently the original's, even so that the motorcycle scene lasted way too short time.

In that regard, it is similar insofar as it has no real interest in properly exploring the world it creates or the questions arising from it. Viewers seeking an impressive light show will undoubtedly find much to appreciate in this costly audio-visual spectacle, which assaults the senses from all possible angles. For the rest of us, it is style over substance and therefore another missed opportunity.

Disappointing at best. The plot makes absolutely no sense at all. The villain's character is the source of the major holes. He is a program designed to create a virtual world but can't himself write programs? Contradictions like these are common. He also has no motivation for leaving The Grid, which is the supposed source of tension in the film. Every aspect of this film's story has more holes than content, which could have easily been rectified with a new antagonist. I was expecting much more.

Nice special effects and Daft Punk don't make up for what is a soulless movie. There's no real story here, just some vague premise to hang effects sequences on. Nothing that happens feels like it has any consequence, it's like they had a bunch of different ideas of what they wanted to do and instead of focusing on a few decided to just throw everything in regardless of whether it made sense or was necessary. A movie made to kick-start a franchise rather than tell a good story.

The music! Such amazing music. The soundtrack by Daft Punk immediately won me over. Overall a fantastic film. Holds it's own very well, and does a great job at being a sequel to a classic. The action is great, the acting is great, and the story is superb. :)

Color me fully surprised, but 'Tron: Legacy' is a total complete blast of sight and sound. Watching the original 1982 'Tron' pales in comparison to the digital landscape and technical wizardry of the newly updated cyberworld conjured up by some very talented filmmakers. The story serves just enough purpose to allow Garrett Hedlund and Jeff Bridges to carry us through an eye-popping fireworks show of total imagination. I had a lot of fun here, and I'm still shocked this movie even exists!

My ultimate guilty pleasure movie. It looks good, it sounds great, and it is fascinating. Set in a computerized world where anything is possible, nothing is therefore over the top and it's reliance on CGI only helps the setting. Not necessarily a smart movie, but it is well crafted and fun.

Touched on some themes that I didn't expect (genocide, what?), in some excellent ways, held true to the bread-and-butter of Tron (that being the visuals)... very good movie. Visually stunning, with a formulaic-but-well-executed story behind it, which is certainly not a bad thing. Sci-Fi can easily be fucked up, but they pulled it off quite superbly. There's wonk to the found in the characters' inter-relationships, but it's minor. CGI Bridges looked phenomenal. Plus, Olivia Wilde is delicious.

You've got to admire a sci-fi/fantasy that commits to being a different world, with it's own rules that make sense to the characters even if they're a bit silly to you and I. CGI Bridges is a bit ropey, but Garrett Hedlund carries the peice well enough. Likewise Olivia Wilde continues to show a real variety in her character repertoire, playing a kick-ass heroine with an almost childlike personality. The whole show is stolen, however, by Michael Sheen's outrageous Thin White Duke impression.

Silly as shit and the plot doesn't make a lick of sense.. just like the original. Jeff Bridges seems to be having a good ole' time in this sequel to his original camp fest. All the other actors seem to be showcasing their sexy tights but with little else to show for it. The electronic synth score and acid like visuals makes up for having to listen to the people speak. If you just look at it as a full length music video carried by CGI artists it makes everything much more enjoyable.

After seeing this in IMAX 3D, it finally came to me that 3D is not always needed to be in every film. Tron Legacy was that film that shouldn't need the 3D viewing. No doubt the visuals were incredible. Scenery and cinematography grabbed my attention. Plus, it was hard to say which chick was hot. lol. The story, however, was plain, predictable, and not surprising (character-wise), especially the ending when Jeff Bridges's character acts like God showing his ultimate power at the last minute.

Hit by all the ponderous MacGuffins and politics; Tron Legacy seems like a sword-and-sandals epic in disguise--with enslaved gladiators, coups, big speeches from emperors. And it's just as dry and flat as any others that have come out as of late. On the plus side there's Daft Punk's score, Chinese stress balls, Micheal Sheen letting loose, and Jeff Bridge's reading of the line: "...yeah."

T:L's come close, but outside of its driving, quasi-throwback Daft Punk score, this is the definition of a one-trick pony whose jaw-dropping visuals can't completely overcome the paper thin story and a blandly non-plussed leading man who isn't the least bit phased or inquisitive about waking up inside of an ACTUAL COMPUTER and who somehow has little trouble defeating its deadliest warriors.

Not as innovative or charming as the first film, but it's still a pretty wonderful sight to behold, and one of the rare instances where the 3D feels right. The film lightly touches on some sort of existential ideas, but a more thoughtful script could've made things more intelligent and emotionally involving. Weakness of the script aside, I was drawn into the story and won over by the spectacle. It's flashy 'n' modern but it's still Tron.

Style over Substance, dafür aber auch so richtig. Fantastisches Set-Design. Erstaunlich wie viel und wie gut vieles ohne Computer-Schnickschnack doch heutzutage noch aussieht. Die Geschichte kann man vergessen, auch wenn der Part mit Michael Sheen ziemlich cool war, zumal am Ende die Schiff-Ballerei sich ein wenig bei Avatar bedient zu haben scheint und auch ähnlich lahm und uninspiriert wirkte. Trotzdem ein Film fürs Kino gemacht, den man sich geben sollte

This was a pretty decent sequel. Especially for one made almost 30 years after the original. It was great to see Jeff Bridges back in the same role, as well as Bruce Boxleitner. The computer effects were great, for the most part. Some exciting and visually appealing sequences. It did have a pretty contrived and conventional plot as well as bad dialogue but overall, it was a cool and entertaining film.

It's made in the same spirit as its predecessor, meaning that it cares more about action scenes than anything else. That means it's rarely boring, although this one is when it tries to give "subtle" winks to the fans that have supported the series for 28 years. The visuals and action scenes are the highlights, but the plot meanders and the characters are weak. Fans of Tron will have a good time, while others probably will too, even if they won't enjoy the references taking away action time.

The best part about this was the fact that we get to see what the original should have looked like, and man is it pretty. The story is okay, but unfortunately it's no where near as ground break as the original and for that it loses some points. It's great that they brought back some of the original cast, but digitallised Jeff Bridges, just looks creepy.

It doesn't do much with its artificial-reality ideas or the few of the first film's characters who appear significantly, nor does it apply any variance to its facile orange/teal color scheme. The character motivations are shaky and inconsistent and the film's central message regarding freedom of information contradicts itself. Jeff Bridges' de-aging CGI is distractingly unconvincing. But it sure is pretty to look at.

A good time. Loved Bridges' Dude-isms, Daft Punk, Olivia Wilde, and the intrigue of the first act. The CGI is noteworthy, though none of the set pieces particularly stand out. Also, there are some lapses in logic (what's the motivation for Tron's change of heart at the end? Why didn't Flynn Sr. pull a "Neo" earlier on?). Things like Cillian Murphy's cameo make it seem like a sequel is already planned, though I say save the next one for 25 years from now when technology advances even further.

Enjoyable techno-fantasy almost feels like a computer based version of LABYRINTH (especially when Sheen's Bowie-esque, androgynous antagonist shows up) - livelier than the original, if not necessarily anymore coherent, with Bridges (the older) doing his best Harrison Ford in maintaining authority amidst the silliness, though the creepy, "uncanny valley" younger Bridges is never convincing. Visually stunning at times; this probably would have benefited from an IMAX/theatre viewing.

Was expecting far more from the soundtrack, the only time it lived up was during DP's cameo. Also this film should have consisted of 30% grid racing at least, far too much dialogue taken from the mold of Nolan and the main character was such a Bale-clone. Can't imagine rewatching this ever.

I found it to be very enjoyable for the first hour or so, then it gets boring. The plot, and dialogue (and acting), is sorta hilariously, enjoyably bad, but the film is too long so there becomes too much of it. Trim 20 minutes and have more grid action and it coulda been a very fun time.
