Hype!

Best decision: no mention (aurally or visually) of Nirvana until halfway into the movie, then the riff to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" enters. Give viewers an approximation of the culture and appreciation of the lesser-known bands before it blew up.

Tree stumps and serial killers. Bitchfest with a crap soundtrack (What! No Queensryche?). But hey, I LIKED the flannel shirt I got for Christmas circa 1993. Thanks Seattle.

Documentary

Interesting look at how grunge came to be back in the day. The tone is a bit cynical at times because it seems the scenesters grew tired of the grunge scene mostly because they felt "their" scene had been co-opted by the mainstream. All in all there's some interesting interviews with some grunge luminaries and behind the scenes look at the music industry.

good spotlight on very worthy lesser knowns, not exactly a gripping documentary in itself but for grunge fans it has to be a must watch due to the rare footage, interviews etc.

Pleasant nostalgia trip that thankfully never turned into "The Nirvana Show", but rather, chose to focus on many other '80s and '90s-era Seattle bands that, as a teen growing up during this time, I didn't know about. Sounded great and the talking heads told interesting enough stories to keep me involved.
