That's right kids be happy your parents aren't billionaires because then you would be lonely. Nobody would ever want to be your friend if you were rich.

Harmless but forgettable kids' movie. It has a few clever moments and funny lines. Trust me, there are far worse "rich kid" movies out there (*cough*Blank Check*cough).

one of my greatest childhood memories involves trying to build the giant child catapult featured in this movie and then settling for jumping off the roof of the house while holding an umbrella. My shoulder still hurts when the weather changes.

Being nine years old when this movie came out, I can tell you that even as a child I found it to be really asinine; in fact, that's the word I used back then to describe it to my analyst over a virgin martini.

Surprisingly enjoyable, even for the post-teen crowd; it's fun at every turn, funny without being excessively "jokey", and builds to an action climax that's unforced and actually engaging.

Not any worse than any other kid hero family flick, but not any better, either. Dan Fielding is a pretty good bad guy, and it's fine for what it is. It's no great movie by any stretch of the imagination, but I don't understand all the hate for it.

One of the worst ideas for an adaptation of all time. This is what probably drove Macaulay Culkin to hard drugs and Michael Jackson.

If my kid's last name was Rich, I probably wouldn't name him Richie. As a kid, having your own McDonald's in your house was the height of luxury. I like the end where Richie Rich gets shot in the chest, like, 4 times. Reminds me of the Dumb & Dumber scene "but what if he shot you in the face?"

A film about a boy with way too much money, that seemed to capitolize of McCaulkin's Home Alone success. It was a however a semi fun family film to watch.

It was a poor(HA) cartoon to begin with, so no shock the movie is a piece of shit. I am sure kids will enjoy some of the gags. Then you can have said children checked and confirmed for being autistic.

Macauley Culkin sadly tried to hold on to that cute kid thing he had going but his voice had changed and he had grown by the time this movie came out so it was just sad.

The kids'll probably love it, but the child acting in this is so, SO bad. The fact that the film features child acting pretty heavily just makes it all the worse. The dumb humor and dumber plot don't lend the movie any favors, either.

Becomes a bit darker if you realize this tale of a kid who has a lot of wealth yet is unhappy because he lacks meaningful relationships with others and normality in general, is played by Macauly Culkin. Read the mini-reviews to find out why the mini-reviews are wrong: they showcase what likely made Culkins life so difficult

This movie is now interesting and worth watching (almost) for how dated it has become. The imagined technology used in the Dad-Finder is now commonplace, for example. The dialogue is truly cringe-worthy, however. I wouldn't recommend this for anything other than rainy day children's light entertainment.

Richie Rich would have been the right role for Macaulay Culkin had he made the film five years sooner. Part of the humor was lost by making him a young teenager as opposed to the seven to ten year old of the comics and cartoon. Also a lot of other humor was lost on a pretty dumb plot. Total crap!

Functions adequately as a kids film and conveys a nice, positive Communist message to our pre-pubescent comrades. However, if you're older than eight, not on psychoactive drugs, and not functionally retarded, rather err on the side of caution and give this one a miss.

Ever had to endure hearing a four-year-old who's just formed a rudimentary understanding of the feedline-punchline format try to write a joke? Well that's what watching Richie Rich is like, as scene after scene is ended with a 'gag' seemingly penned by somebody who has never laughed. The story is an inconsistent confusing mess, appearing to set up some sort of baseball angle before deciding to become a 'stop the bad guy' action-adventure instead. Just a crappy kids' comedy of the era really.

I had to watch this as the kids are big fans of Home Alone - well who isn't? Too bad that this one is not that funny, and more of a relic of its time. It's not hard to see why it failed at the box office. There are goofy stereotypes and "valuable" lessons about how money can't buy happiness, while still admiring a Gordon Gekko style greed/money is good mentality. Still, Culkin is likeable as always and the butler was quite funny. Kids enjoyed it, but I doubt they will remember it for long.

Feels like half the movie is world building and the plot that follows is pretty ridiculous (I mean I guess getting out of jail usually is that easy for rich people) but most of it’s fairly fun in its campy nature: The British butler’s name is Cadbury, there’s a McDonald’s in the house, the slimeball villain gets his just desserts (“Where’s the money?” “…In banks”). The parents are pretty cool for billionaires (pro-union, able to survive at sea, sentimental cheeseballs-see their song password).
