Opening made me pine for a David Lean zombie film.

Started off very well with lots of tension and even a scare that got me out of my chair(for a moment anyway). But the longer the movie goes, the more tension it loses. So when something finally does happen, it doesn't feel too important or it feels kind of blah. It is a decent zombie movie compared to a lot of the zombie movies that are flooding the market.

A horribly sub par zombie movie that deals with quality issues by consistently featuring zombies spaced every twenty feet across the entire country of Ghana. That aspect gets to be a bit frightening at times, until you realize that you end up seeing the same zombies repeatedly. If you manage to sit through the entire thing, stick around for the credits, I laughed hysterically at seeing about 80 people with the same last name in a row.

Hey guys, next time you make a film, please give it a story. Thanks.

Combining a zombie outbreak with the unforgiving climate and terrain of Africa... that's a smart combo. As such, The Dead was pretty refreshing in a genre where I thought I'd seen it all. I liked how the zombies truly felt omnipresent, and some scenes have actual tension. Rob Freeman isn't a charismatic lead though, and it's a shame this movie needed a white amurrican as a protagonist in the first place. Also, no zombie lions? Opportunity wasted!

The civil war/genocide allegory is a clever idea but, while I thought they were playing it -commendably- subtly it rambled and fizzled out. it's scrappy looking, perhaps emulating NOTLD but the (practical) gore was really good. Gets extra credit though for Max Brooksian realism and an unusual setting, almost enough to make up for the very-last scenes very-cheesiness.

Sets up a nice little zombie survival movie in the first hour, but as more and more time goes on the movie starts to suffer. Too many zombies spread out, stupid decisions being made, and emotional range the lead actor just couldn't hit took me out of the third act. It's unique setting makes it watchable for zombie fans, but only once.

A decent enough zombie movie. The African setting was certainly a refreshing touch. The best zombie movie of the year? (It says this on the poster) Rammbock was way better than this.

If you love zombie movies, I suppose this is watchable. Rob Freeman looks pretty damn hot here, I gotta say... but that alone doesn't make it worthwhile.
