I'm really glad I saw this. From what I could tell, it serves as a pretty good documentation of Harrison's life, and even a decent one about the Beatles. It's over 3 hours long, so it's fairly extensive, which I appreciated. A pretty well-made, if reasonably conventional, documentary, but I wouldn't have guessed it was directed Scorsese. Absolutely worth watching if you're a Beatles fan.

For a rockumentary on one of the biggest bands ever directed by one of the biggest directors ever, this turned out to be a modest doco. Illuminating as can be, given the high production value letting many key collaborators reminisce on the man, who himself may've been the most modest (and likeable) member of The Beatles. Overall, this is just too boring, I want to hear more whacky anecdotes rather than spend up to an hour focusing on his inevitable mediocre post-Beatles career.

I am not a particularly big fan of The Beatles, although they did have quite an influence on me when growing up. George always stood out to me (but only after you get over John's flower power!) and his mysterious character in the background. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece of art. When so many people are saying so many good things about a man, you know he is something out of here. 3 hours don't drag because it is exceptionally well made. After I watched it I learnt it's Scorsese. Hehe.

A little too slick and it doesn't seem completely honest, but hey, it's George Harrison. I'll overlook those faults.

Scorsese's masterful documentary may convince you that George Harrison was the most interesting Beatle (or ex-Beatle) after all.

I think my lifelong obsession with The Beatles (thanks mom) may have me outfitted with blinders on this one. But I must say, Scorsese has done the impossible. I now have a new favorite Beatle.

Very interesting and well put together. It's a bit overly long and loses focus sometimes but I was captivated throughout nevertheless.

I had no idea that Harrison was so heavily involved with Revolution 9. I hate that shit. The sitar alone were enough to make him my least favourite.

Even with all the Beatles documentaries around, this one still feels fresh. I've always found Harrison the most interesting of the group and this has only made that more the case.

decent doc about the life and works of my favorite Beatles (ain't he everyone's?). Lasting 3.5 hours this mix of talking heads with archive footage couldn't always grab my full interest and attention. The doc got better and more interesting in the second half when it moves past the Beatles and into Harrison solo career and mostly all his Indian spiritual interests. But from a documentary made by Scorsese I expected a bit more.

George was the best. such an inspirational human being. the documentary is p damn delightful, though i prefer the first 2/3s. great job by Scorsese, but i think No Direction Home worked out better, if only due to Dylan's active influence.

Absolutely fantastic! You will never listen to The Beatles the same way again. Life will never look the same again.

Slow, patient and thorough - Scorsese's portrait may not be perfectly focused but it provides more than sufficient and fascinating evidence that Harrison indeed was the most underrated Beatle.

The very extensive footage provides great access to the world of George Harrison and The Beatles at the time, and there are quite a few great trivia nuggets in here. But it's surprisingly scattershot and could have been told much better.

George is my favorite Beatle (musically at least, John was the best because he was such a smart ass troll) but this movie, while expertly made and interesting throughout, is just an overkill. 3 hours was way too much, Marty. Just once when I see a doc like this I want an interview with someone where they are just talking about what an asswipe the person was, it gets old listening to people constantly praise these guys. No one's perfect, give me some dirt for once.

This is an excellent documentary. It shows great insight into George Harrison's life with and without the Beatles. The documentary is very interesting the entire way. This is a must see for all George Harrison fans.

The first part feels like left leftover footage from Anthology, the second part feels like a meditation commercial sponsored by Olivia Harrison. Nevertheless a bright and insight full documentary that dares to enter the subject, the meaning of life and everything in between, through a Beatle.

Despite all the great parts this is a wildly uneven documentary that shouldn't last even close to 208 minutes. The first part is especially messy, like a Beatles documentary with very little Lennon and McCartney but not enough focus on Harrison either. There is also something arrogant about how Scorsese omits Got My Mind Set on You. Together with Shine a Light and Bob Dylan: No Direction Home this marks a disappointing trilogy from Scorsese.

Awesome. Like everything that George Harrison did, and Scorsese also.
