Great animation. Didn't really care for either the characters or the plot, but some smooth looking animation. Kinda wish the plot and script supported the great animation.

The animation was really beautiful throughout the film. The story was cute and action packed enough to keep kids entertained while remaining light-hearted enough not to scare them too much. If I were 10 or under, I probably would have loved this movie. As an adult, however, it never elevates itself beyond its rather superficial plot. Overall, I enjoyed it and I would definitely recommend it.

I liked a lot of the protagonist character designs (mostly Santa), but for a movie about imagination and belief, it really doesn't feel all that imaginative or interesting. Point of fact, the story feels incredibly linear, facile, and bland (all the while having too much exposition). ParaNorman handled the protagonist's feeling-invisible dilemma infinitely better... In fact, ParaNorman really did a better job with EVERYTHING this movie does.

Forgettable fluff with some decent designs and a sort of cute concept. Too bad it focuses a lot on that 'kids are magical and awesome and they had the power within them the whole time' nonsense. To be fair, I hate kids and everything they stand for. As an added bonus, a disturbingly large amount of the running time takes place in children's bedrooms.

Most impressive in terms of animation, and with some value for its darker moments, Rise of the Guardians is nonetheless too mired in children's fairy tales to ever lose the genre clash that results from having childrens imaginary givers as warriors. The twisted fairy tale has been overdone by now. Still, I enjoyed it, and the plot wasn't too outlandish.

There is a beautifully naive -- almost Spielberguian/Zemeckisian, I felt -- sense of lost innocence in a story about broken dreams, ancient myths that require faith, and, finally, the danger of making fear dominate our hearts and minds. It all relies on a well-crafted imagery, with a script that seems too educational -- not to mention that it takes about 40 minutes to really get the wheels rolling.

Much better than I thought it was going to be, but the story is rather underdeveloped and cliched. I really like the general concept of this film's universe though.

I had to spend several minutes after this was over reassuring my kids that Santa isn't actually an intimidating, tattooed Russian who wields two swords and possesses ninja-level fighting skills. This is like a low-grade WATCHMEN knockoff with children's fairy tale characters as the alleged heroes. Ugh.

A cute kids films about childish hopes and fears and belief and such. It's nothing all that special narratively, but it's still somewhat creative and the visual take on these characters is somewhat interesting.

More fairly harmless animation. Lot of talent in the cast but ultimately it isn't needed.

There is definitely something in the water at Dreamworks. This isn't in the Pixar league, but it shows a lot of invention and wit. Perfectly decent adventure.

Brilliant characters fill the screen in this delightful adventure about so many things, most important being the power of belief. David Lindsay-Abaire and Peter Ramsey do a terrific job bringing fresh light on classic characters, all while servicing a terrifically tense plot.

Predictable, and plays or pretty safe fro the most part, but I enjoyed this iteration of the characters and the concept was interesting enough. Jack Frost was a likable protagonist. I can see why so many people my age (20s) like the movie. The themes of self-acceptance and believing in yourself probably hit home for a lot of children. It’s beautifully made and I enjoyed the acting and humor. Those yetis be speaking my language.

Beautifully animated film that follows four of the big holiday guardians (Santa, Easter Bunny, Sandman, Jack Frost) as they fight the boogie man. Stunning animation and the 3D effects are probably the most effective that I have seen in an animated film. The story is skewed towards very young children, but it's cute and full of holiday spirit. Young kids and animation buffs will appreciate it the most.

A generally pleasant & harmless, if surprisingly bland animated family flick. RotG has a distinctive one-dimensional feel to it, which was a shame because there was a lot of mythology for the writers to play with if they wanted to, but they seemed very reluctant. Thankfully, even though it's a bit flat, it's not a return to DreamWorks insultingly awful movies of their "Shark Tale" days. Visually it's interesting though & the majority of the voice acting is good. It'll entertain the kids.

Seemed like a solid children's movie, but there's little for adults to appreciate. I saw this in 2D, but I hear the 3D is actually quite good if you're into that sorta thing.

A series of stolen setpieces in a not original but acceptable kids movie plot. Had a lot of great individual elements but nothing really came together and just felt like video game levels that things were happening because 'the game told me so'.

I think the concept was great and visually it stands out. It also has one of the most comical depictions of Santa I've ever seen.... however the problem with the movie is that it's incredibly bland and cliche and at times the plot is pretty non-sensical since it doesn't explain how the universe itself works in most cases. Although it's nothing more than an average kids movie, I couldn't really bring myself to hate it.

Far more forgettable than a movie featuring so many iconic figures should be. The animation is wonderful but the story, like so many Dreamworks movies, is over-dependent on lengthy action sequences that bore more than they enthrall. Things conclude on a satisfying note, though; the final fifteen minutes are the strongest of the film.

The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen made into an animated feature. It stars the Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, Sandman and Jack Frost. For an animated movie this really crept along slowly for most of the film. The end does really speed up fast and then becomes great but by that point you've sat through a lot of slowness. I was really touched by the ending. It was all really sweet. I'm still confused why Chris Pine voiced Jack Frost. His voice sounds too mature for a kid.

Rise of the Guardians is a failure, but I can see the potential and if it happens to make a lot of money, a sequel isn't something that I'd root against. It needed to take more risks, possibly calm down the camera, and be more of a shower, not a teller (and hire someone with more enthusiasm than Chris Pine for the lead), but the premise is solid and there is a lot of talent behind it. The franchise could make a believer out of me yet.

*shrugs* Good movie, interesting characters that they didn't flesh out, and a villain who wasn't all that threatening. The animation, however, is the absolute top notch. Look at Jack's frost! Look at Jack's Adam's apple! Look at Jack's veins! Great for kids and keen-eyed viewers who love getting involved with the detail of a film.

It's a children's film that's really probably only fit for children, apart from liking it's style I can't say I was entertained as an adult, if you want to watch something with kids and not be bored to death I'd definitely recommend rewatching the toy story films instead for example, those do entertain me even as an adult.

There is a LOT of creativity here, and I really love it. One of DreamWorks' best efforts, it's fun when it wants to be, serious when it wants to be, and the characters are actually pretty layered and compelling. Also probably DreamWorks' most beautifully animated film since Prince of Egypt.

I'm dumbfounded by how unappreciated this movie is. The voice acting is great, the animation is beautiful, it hits on an emotional level, and it's perfect for children and adults. Where other animated family movies rely on pop culture jokes and overly modernizing classic stories, ROTG has a feeling of respect for their characters, a sense of child-like wonder, and feels like it could take place in any time period. I absolutely love this movie!

Another one off the Dreamworks hit-and-miss wagon, unfortunately this one is mostly miss. With way too many sprawling ideas and a far too high pace, it never manages (or attempts) to explain the rules of its universe; Likely because there are none, or they make no sense, because I certainly couldn't puzzle this coherently together. Some moments are great, but every scene which doesn't involve the kids (of past or future) is an absolute dud - that's most of the film, then.
