For a long time it's just bland-bad, then at the halfway point there's a sudden strobe light shootout in the dark that's deliciously, incoherently rad-bad, but after that point it continues being bland-bad again. That made me sad-mad.

Slightly better than House of the Dead. But still unbelievably awful. I'll never understand how or why Slater and Dorff agreed to be in this movie.

There is around 1 - 2 minutes of unintentional comedy in AitD. For that, I award it 5 points. The rest of it is incredibly boring, which is the biggest sin you can commit in film-making.

Once again I'm in the minority thinking this was actually a pretty decent and entertaining flick. The effects are well done and the movie flows with a good pace. While I agree the script jumps around a bit and the acting is quite wooden, it's not enough to warrant calling this the worst movie ever. Come on! there is far, far worse stuff out there.

Top badass moment? At one point Steven Dorff throws a bit of a wobbly. He picks up a few bits of paper (probably the script), scans them briefly and then pushes over a table and screams out, "My guys are dying out there for nothing; for fucking nothing!" Seeing an actor demonstrate a high level of emotional intelligence by empathising with the audience whilst also staying in character, just has to be badass. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

There's only one thing that I know how to do well and I've often been told that you only can do what you know how to do well and that's be you, be what you're like, be like yourself, and so I'm having a wonderful time but instead I'll review Alone in the Dark, review Alone in the Dark, review Alone in the Dark, review Alone in the Dark, review Alone in the Dark, review Alone in the Dark. There are many things that I like besides reviewing Alone in the Dark.

This is actually not bad. I got the unrated version and was very upset because: there wasn't anything unrated about it. And I was really hoping to at least see Tara Reid topless. False advertisement on that unrated edition if you ask me.

Alone in the Dark continues in Uwe Boll's line of tragically horrible video games related movies. It's nowhere near as bad as House of the Dead, but it's still awful.

Given the title of worst movie ever made well by most this movie has been hated and mocked for the past 9 years and i will agree the story is flat there is literally no character development to speak of and the script is laughable at best. But if you can look beyond those flaws then you'll find it for what it is a dumb movie who's only purpose it to entertain you. The effects are decent and add a campy feel plus Tara Reid looks good her acting was not so good but watch and move on.

It may well be Boll’s aesthetic influence on the many (inferior) bargain basement actioners starring former leading men of a certain age that have cropped up in recent years, but this is really not abysmally terrible once expectations are appropriately set; indeed it’s hard to hate a movie that casts Reid as a museum curator with a completely straight face! Still pretty clunky, with especially clumsy exposition drops, but fast paced and zippy enough to keep itself out of the bowels of despair.

In the first 10 minutes I was already baffled at how bad this was. It was like a cognitive dissonance between wondering if this was a shitty parody, and knowing it was meant to be the real deal. It just went on being terrible. Almost every line of the dialog was like a gut-punch of mediocrity. The saving grace was a few rare special effect in the gore, but that was it.

Runs like an awful episode of a mediocre tv-show . It's not bad enough to be good, just literally terrible and totally uninteresting in every aspect. Slater is a great actor, but even he - as a professional under guidance of German Schlock Wave's maestro Raging Boll - sounds and acts frustrated and bored to death. *

Boll is not a human being. Alone in the Dark is better acted than House of the Dead (not that that's any sort of accomplishment), but worse on every other level. Trainwrecks aren't supposed to be this tedious.

I mean seriously... one of the most dull, mind numbing, idiotic messes I have ever seen. Could they have possibly miscast everyone worse? Tara Reid is in her own special category of awful here. Gets a 5 only because House of The Dead is five times worse.

Ineptly made sci-fi/horror/action hybrid that steals ideas from far superior films like Aliens and The Matrix and applies them badly. Atrociously. Boll is a stunningly clueless director who employs outdated stylistic tricks that he isn't close to mastering to nauseating effect; his overuse of slow mo is especially laughable. Slater sleepwalks through another role in a presumably drunken stupor (what happened?!?!) and Reid is simply awful and seriously miscast as an assistant museum curator.

...Yes..well, While Uwe Boll's films are not nearly as bad as they are made out to be, this is the one exception...Nothing to reccommend it except for the music videos in the special features section of the DVD. However, if you need to see how not to make a horror film or any film for that matter Alone In The Dark is a good teacher. Sorry Uwe.

When they say that this is loosely based on a computer game, what they're really talking about is the fact that they took the main characters name. Incredibly tedious. It's so bad, that it becomes fascinating to watch, until such time, where it becomes so bad it becomes bad again (if you know what I mean). The director's name is Uwe Boll, and he's a most serious contender for worst director of all time.

By far, the most, boring movie I've ever fallen asleep to. I managed to watch all but the last 20 minutes of it at which point boredom won the battle against my will to see the movie through. I actually like Christian Slater - that's probably the reason it got 37 instead of 0. In summary, I wasn't expecting much from it, but I got even less.

Awful movie, but a great laugh if you've got some friends and a need to go MST3K on something. Otherwise, avoid like the plague...actually, avoid like something stronger. Avoid this like the super plague, the Bush years, conversations about religion, members of the "tea party" and any other unpleasant thing you can think of. In short, it's a Uwe Boll movie.
