This was fun! A mix of The Witches, Dead/Alive and some kind of heist/road trip movie. The finale was a tad too long, but still the most enjoyable film in the horror genre (even though it's not scary at all) I've watched recently. Totally absurd and over the top, in a good way!

A zany and relentless B-horror caper which whips its way through a lengthy array of self-referential gags, more verbal than visual, some of which are very sharp and funny. The characters are brimming with life although it could be argued there are too many of them. The crowd scenes and action spectaculars at the film's finale are perhaps a bit too chaotic and busy, but at least the film is never too predictable. An entertaining watch which shows off the largely unknown depth of Spanish cinema.

Completely nuts and damn good fun. Alex de la Iglesia has been on my radar since the brilliant Day of the Beast. I hear he's doing a V/H/S sequel segment next, can't wait, keep em coming Alex

This is an ugly, long, ugly movie, with action scenes that are nigh incomprehensible. Its comedy stems almost exclusively from its regressive gender politics or cartoonish violence. It's weird and campy in a way that suggests Pedro Almodóvar, somehow filtered through the male panic and filmmaking craft of Michael Bay, but that comparison might incorrectly suggest that the film is interesting rather than merely tedious. I think I'm done with de la Iglesia.

Over the top craziness all round in this heist, road-trip, witchcraft-themed horror comedy. I'll be watching more from Álex de la Iglesia for sure. [Shudder.com]

Fun despite its pointless misogyny.

Álex de la Iglesia apparently learned nothing from the dichotomies of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN.

A delightful--and fright-less--horror-cum-comedy film that was enjoyable and worth a watch; the humor was much more present than I had expected. And Carmen Maura was excellent as the matriarch (her authority surpassing her character's mother).

Not Iglesias' finest hour by a long shot, but not worthless, either.

Kind of funny. Pretty cheap. Very random. Wish this movie had more colors than just shades of yellow and teal. Also, fast shutter speed + epileptography = barf.
