With nothing really to do, In quarantine I sat, Until a virtual festival of feline films, Where I first saw "Cat in the Hat"(2003). "Who was this film for?" I say, "Who?" "Who?" "Who?", Surely this film could not have been made for either me or you. Mike Myers as the Cat, They say a tragedy to see, Mike Myers as the Cat, Embarrassingly got a chuckle or two from me. After seeing the film, My childhood may have come away unscaved, Seuss' widow however, Thought he'd be rolling over in his grave.

Why, Mike, why? This is not the book I grew up with. This is not the book I read my children. This is Mike Myers being Mike Myers in a cat suit. This could have been a good movie, but it was poorly executed. Mike, stick with Austin Powers.

Cat in the Hat is one of the most terrifyingly bad films ever. Mike Myers apparently was allowed to act as stupidly and disgustingly as possible for this film. This is the lowest form of humor in movie form. If I had kids, I wouldn't allow them to watch this. Utter crapulence!

Without a doubt one of the worst films I have ever seen. Although it is not always a bad thing that Mike Myers is allowed to run riot, in fact he is the only redeeming aspect of the film, but in this context it just fails in every aspect. I'm sure he was never even given a script and is in fact making it up as he goes along. The film is totally tedious to watch, destroys the childrens book it was based on, is quite inappropiate for a kids movie and is so brightly coloured you feel like vomiting.

Making an awful adaptation of a classic children's book is what happened with the creation of The Cat in the Hat. It is unfunny, poorly designed and has terrible acting. The Cat itself is a frightening creature, and so are the visual effects. I did get a slight bit of amusement with how much innuendo and double entendres are hidden throughout the film, but that's about it.

Unlike the Grinch, this movie took an excellent story and added unneeded and unwanted elements that changed the theme and feeling of the story. A "villian", a "evil boss", and political humor for obscure nations all help pull this movie down. It is my current standard for how bad a movie can be.

Starts intriguing for a kid's movie, with a big dedication to the esthetics. Some of the more adult jokes are interesting at first. But it all turns into too much of a mess with screaming and bad effects and no plot at all. Kids might just lose interest halfway through if not sooner

Welch is best known for his great production design in early Burton films, but it is difficult to blame this mess (i.e. his directorial debut) entirely on him given Myers' acknowledged creative interference and the spec like script that is bereft of clarity and focus. It relies heavily on the sets and visuals, which are moderately impressive, and Myers' star power. Unfortunately, Myers is extremely obnoxious, and the fact that the credits kick in at the 75 minute mark is telling. Avoid.
