"Maybe it's the weight of its reputation, maybe it's my own stubbornness, but I don't quite get the fuss about CASABLANCA. To be fair, it's a good film: smoothly made, smartly written, briskly paced, well-acted (though Claude Rains steals the show pretty easily), and enjoyable. But it doesn't really do anything special for me. Maybe Michael Curtiz's direction isn't inventive enough. Maybe there isn't really enough to the story (or certain characters). Still, a film this iconic needs to be seen." - Tue, 04:03
