Criticker just got reviewed on The Red Ferret Journal – “tantalisingly tasteful, tacky and taut tech trivia”.
Here’s a part of it:
The developers have clearly spent a lot of time putting this together and it shows. Oh and it’s pretty useful as a standard movie recommendation site too. Throw in a Wish List function like MovieLens and some synch functionality with email and your mobile phone (so you could see your recommendations while in a video store or standing outside a theatre) and it would be awesome.
I especially love the idea with the mobile function. Red Ferret thank you very much.
Do you run a blog? Why not write something about us? It’s a great way to see if your readers have the same taste in films as you. Plus, if we notice some traffic from your site, we might dedicate a blog post to thank you.
Netflix just announced they they carry over 85,000 titles (including those that aren’t technically films, such as TV shows). At nearly 16,000 titles, Criticker’s movie database is pretty slim in comparison, but we’re working on adding movies every single day.
And we won’t even bother to check how many films IMDB has. It would just depress us.

Filming of the cult comic “Watchmen” will start this month in Vancouver and the release date is set for 03.06.09. Zack Snyder suggests the movie will be R-rated to reflect the book’s adult theme. And I am all for it.
Plot Summary:
An adaptation of Alan Moore’s landmark comic book series, Watchmen is a story set in an alternative 1985, where the world is ticking closer to the brink of nuclear war, and a plot to eliminate a band of ex-crimefighters is instigated, but why? and by whom? It is up to two of those ex-crimefighters to investigate the plot that seems to go beyond the unthinkable. Written by Ruckwood
Cast:
- Billy Crudup – Dr. Manhatten
- Malin Akerman – Silk Spectre
- Matthew Goode – Ozymandias
- Patrick Wilson – Nite Owl
- Jackie Earle Haley – Rorschach
- Jeffrey Dean Morgan – The Comedian

After watching the first Matrix I could not stop thinking about the co-existence of a virtual reality. Russian artists made these goggles, to help put you in the mood to consider life inside the Matrix. The video has more information:

I’d love to re-watch “Dead Man’s Chest” without all the CGI effects. I think it’d be better.
