The American Film Institute has released its 10 Top 10 - the top ten films in ten genres.
Winners include 2001 (Sci-Fi), Snow White (Animation) and Vertigo (Mystery). Take some time to browse their lists, you’ll surely find entrants to disagree with (Shrek?!!), but overall it’s hard to find too much fault.

What do you all think? Any glaring omissions?

cant believe that there are just 10 sport movies out there, or why else would jerry maguire be in that list …
**shrugs**… I’ve seen 34 of those 100 movies. That’s pretty bad, eh? Oh and Shrek… that’s the reason Criticker exists, right?
Shrek 2, to be exact. I actually kinda liked the first one.
These top 10s were excellent. Granted, I certainly haven’t seen enough of them. It’s a shame there isn’t a category where “The Silence of The Lambs” would fit in. I was surprised but relieved that Shawshank wasn’t there
. I smiled when I saw “Cat Ballou” in the Westerns, that was a fun film. ‘though I’m not really fond of epic westerns. Surprised there isn’t a musical category with “Singing in the Rain” etc. I was expecting to see “Inherit the Wind” in the courtroom dramas. I would have liked to have seen “The Green Mile” in there, but that seems to be my personal favour. I thought “It Happened One Night” was better than “Annie Hall”.
Disagreed with: The Verdict, Field of Dreams, Caddyshack, Thief of Bagdad. Those were all pretty mediocre, IMO.
I hadn’t even heard of “Reds” (which makes me suspicious). It sounds like an interesting film. Duly added to my wishlist.
