Quality, not quantity! That’s a good motto to live by, and it goes for this week’s relatively small batch of new releases too. We almost always feature more films than we’re doing today, but very rarely do we get to heartily recommend two of them. Everyone already probably knows how great Dark Knight is. This is a movie that belongs in your personal collection now.
Another, much different film is nearly as good: Man on Wire. This is a documentary about a French trapeze artist’s walk between the Twin Towers. I don’t want to give anything away, but… he just about makes it, when suddenly The Joker appears on the other side and cuts the rope. A bloody, shocking ending to an otherwise worthy film.
Batman and James Gordon join forces with Gotham’s new District Attorney, Harvey Dent, to take on a psychotic bank robber known as The Joker, whilst other forces plot against them, and Joker’s crimes grow more and more deadly. The Dark Knight @ Amazon
