New Collections-Related Enhancements

As you might know, Collections are the latest new functionality to hit Criticker — these allow users to build lists of films, by themselves or as a community. Registered users can create as many collections as they want, and open them up so that anyone can add to them.

This was a massive new update to Criticker, meaning problems were bound to pop up and missing but necessary functionality would reveal itself. So, we’ve been working over the last couple weeks on a suite of fixes and improvements relating to Collections.

Here’s a list of the main changes:
*Remove my collection – you now have the ability to delete any collection you’ve created.

*Remove additions I made to public collections – Previously, only moderators could remove films which had been added to their collections. Now, if you had make a mistake in adding a film to someone else’s public collection, you’re able to correct it.

*Sort Collections by Popularity – We now give you the opportunity to mark certain collections with stars, much in the same way you can mark mini-reviews. You can sort all collections based on the number of stars they’ve received.

*Pagination problems on Collection page – Previously, the 2nd page of Collections was leading erroneously to the Tags list

*Filtering Collection, then sorting it on PSI – A specific bug on the list of films within the collection, which had prevented users from using any filters and then ordering on their PSIs.

*Edit Collection from main Collections list – You no longer have to go to “My Collections” in order to edit your collections… you can choose the option right from the main list of all collections.

*Banning & Re-Enabling Users – Was broken before, but works now.

*Weird Quotation Problems – Our eternal Achilles Heel — we think (pray!) that it\’s it’s fixed now.

There have also been a lot of back-end updates meant to improve performance and functionality. As always, please let us know about any problems you find, or suggestions you may have.

I remain unable to list a Collection by order of rating, like I can with tags.

    Otherwise — awesome updates!
