Forum Watch: Favorite Mini-Reviews

One of the more popular topics over at the Criticker Forums recently has been dedicated to users’ favorite Mini-Reviews, started by Jeb. The starring system is a good way to honor those reviews that make you laugh, think or nod your head in agreement, but Criticker users have been using this post to specially recognize those reviews that stand head and tails above the rest.

Frequently, these are Mini-Reviews which elicit laughter. Pickpocket highlighted DVicknabb‘s spot-on review of Crash, which sums up the whole movie in 24 words:
“WHITE PEOPLE BLACK PEOPLE MEXICAN PEOPLE ASIAN PEOPLE WHITE PEOPLE BLACK PEOPLE MEXICAN PEOPLE ASIAN PEOPLE WHITE PEOPLE BLACK PEOPLE MEXICAN PEOPLE ASIAN PEOPLE”.

Or moush‘s review of Baby Geniuses: “I’ve seen better infant roles in the movie ‘Dumplings‘”. So true… it’s just begging for a mash-up.

Some serious reviews get notice as well, such as FitFortDanga‘s thoughts on Naked: “Bleak and cynical and often uproariously funny. Much of the credit belongs to Thewlis, comparable to McDowell in Clockwork Orange or DeNiro in Taxi Driver. He doesn’t so much straddle the line between good and evil as he does swerve back and forth over it like a drunk driver. In the end he is neither redeemed nor vilified. Lesley Sharp is also superb as his ex-girlfriend. The sour note in the movie is Jeremy, whose absolute vileness doesn’t ring true.”

So, the next time you find a review which makes you laugh out loud, or a reviewer whose work deserves special merit, why not go to the forum and tell the community?

I am truly honored. And that mash-up would be great.
