Statham and Considine Join in Blitz

Paddy Considine

Via Crimespree Cinema comes word that two of our favorite actors, Jason Statham and Paddy Considine are teaming up in a film based on Irish author Ken Bruen’s Blitz.

Statham will play Inspector Brant — the protagonist of a few of Bruen’s other novels. A blunt and homophobic old-school cop, Brant is assigned to work with Considine’s openly gay Sergeant Nash, as they track down a cop killer. Something about the idea of an aggressive, aggravated Statham screaming down Paddy excites us.

Ken Bruen is a popular crime novelist, and this will be the first time his work is brought to screen. His work is gritty and realistic, and the London setting probably won’t highlight the picture-postcard side of the city. With both Statham and Considine in the mix, we think this will be a project worth keeping an eye on. Elliott Lester is slated to direct.
