Now Allowed at Criticker: Adult Films

Spurred by general community annoyance about the inability to submit and rank movies like A Serbian Film, we’ve removed the roadblock that prevented the addition of adult titles into Criticker. With a few little conditions…

1) Your birthday must be filled out in your profile, and:
2) Indicate that you are 18 years or older.
3) And you must specifically state you want to include adult films in your Criticker results.

Come and Get It

Please, when submitting adult titles, we ask that you continue to refrain from sexually explicit summaries and images. Also, please let us know if you see an “adult” title appear where it shouldn’t (ie. you haven’t asked to see Adult titles, but “A Serbian Film” appears as a recommendation somewhere).

All right. Perhaps now, with the help of this site, I can finally find a pornographic film that doesn’t suck.

I don’t know if I’m capturing other people’s sentiments, but I think it would be better to just accept certain films that IMDb deems “adult” on a case by case basis. Personally, I won’t have this option enabled, as I imagine that borderline cases such as A Serbian Film will be in the minority, while tons and tons of regular porn films will dominate the rest of the field.

Perhaps a relatively easy to code guideline would be to only accept adult films with a theatrical release. I don’t mind adult films being included in general, and the lines can be blurry, but I don’t want Big Wet Butts 73 or whatever on criticker.

I think PeaceAnarchy’s suggestion that we only accept films with a theatrical release is a good one. We already have films with hardcore content like Polissons et Galipettes and the erotic musical version of Alice in Wonderland purely because IMDb didn’t tag them as ‘adult’ when they were submitted, and so I’d be happy to see films like Debbie Does Dallas on this site (and I see somebody has already submitted that). However, if you’re wanting reviews of the various merits of Big Wet Butts 73 versus Big Wet Butts 74, I propose this isn’t the best place.

I have confidence that we won’t see this new feature being abused, but if it’s a choice between no ‘adult’ films and every adult ‘film’, I could live without A Serbian Film at this site.

i think the theatrical release idea could work

I agree with theatrical release as a criteria for the movie to be included.I don’t want to see direct to video porn reviewed on this site.

I had “A Serbian film” voted and reviewed, so, what happened with that vote? I can’t even find the movie among my ratings nor in the search button.

Not that the movie is deserving of this pile of attention, but I would like to know how does it work.

Yeah the few movies that were in the database with the Adult tag are now listed as being in Preview mode…

This should be fixed now… sorry about that!

Seeing that you have to specifically opt in to see them; and they are completely hidden without going through the hoops to view them; I have absolutely no issue including anything and everything that comes along.
While I’ll refrain from adding Big Wet Butts films, there are others that have not had a theatre release that are VERY important to adult film in general and the film industry as a whole. Films such as One Night In Paris; Young Girls Love Scat, and Midnight Blue all for different reasons are well known outside of the film industry and set trends and even laws about what can, and cannot, be done.
