Update: Yet More Changes!
As you might have already noticed, we’ve just made big new changes to the Film Information page. We hope you like them! Here is an overview of some of the updates and enhancements just introduced.

Larger, Poster-Sized Images
We’ve got poster-sized images for about 2500 of the films in our database, and have provided a utility to allow users to upload ones that are missing.
Larger PSI/Rating Indicator
Along with a cleaned-up look for sharing your favorite films via Twitter, Facebook or Email.
Enhanced Sorting Possibilities on Rankings
View all rankings, just those with reviews, or just your kumpels, and order them by TCI, Tier, Date Ranked or # Stars. What’s more… Criticker will remember the last way you sorted, so if you always like you look at “Latest Rankings with Reviews”, you’ll see that right away.
Statistics
We know this is what you’ve all been waiting for. Check out statistics of the Tier Breakdown for each movie. Also, tier breakdowns on specific personal information, such as gender, age and country.

We really hope you like the changes! And please help us out by submitting posters for those films which don’t yet have them. The page looks fine with the legacy, smaller images, but much better when there are full-sized posters.
And a huge thanks to our Sponsors, without whose support Criticker wouldn’t be possible. If you’re enjoying the website, please think about helping out — we exist without any kind of corporate cash, and really depend on the generosity of our users.

So how it’s gonna work now with the pictures? Posters on film page and old pictures everywhere else (profile, directors pages etc.) or do you plan to replace pictures with posters on all pages?
Eventually, we hope to use the Poster-sized image for all the pages, probably tackling one at a time. Until then, we’re still using the slightly smaller images.
Would it be possible to have one’s review highlighted somehow (such as the pre-update review box). Having it featured next to the poster-sized image feels like you’re reading the film’s summary rather than your personal opinion. Text also seems disproportionate: http://s863.photobucket.com/albums/ab199/frederic_g54/?action=view¤t=picture.jpg
Other than that great work, thanks !
are you trying to get old people to get on the site or something? this is one of the most aesthetically unpleasing things I’ve seen on a website before.
i like the stats but the big poster and huge number are awful
I think the larger font etc ratings list make it a lot harder to read than before
I concur with Jorg and Pickpocket. It looks ‘off’
I like the stats and the posters.
I noticed two problems which may be related to the big change.
First, Permalink is broken for me for every movie. I get an error every time:
“Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The second argument should be either an array or an object in /home/critic/public_html/include/filminfo_functions.php on line 226
Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in /home/critic/public_html/include/filminfo_functions.php on line 231″
Second, the layout on the “Submit a new film to Criticker”-Page is broken in Firefox 8. Explaining texts dont wrap correctly at the right side of the frame. And the text iputs “Plot Summary”, “Source” and “Mini Review” are too wide.
Yeah, I still think the stats and posters are a great idea, but I’d do something about the number size, quite unappealing. If reduced in size, the review box could fit under it, aligning it correctly with the poster.
I agree that the stats are terrific, but the number poster review looks very messy, there are waay too many lines and boxes in the page, you should try to simplify it for a cleaner look, I think that would attract more users. The site doesn’t look 2011, it looks more like 2008 or 2007.
Stats! Santa came early (that’s what mrs. claus said).
‘but I’d do something about the number size, quite unappealing’
The score/PSI is so loud that it distracts the eye from the reviews, making them difficult to read (as others have mentioned).
chisel some niggles chaps
Seconding frederic’s request to highlight your mini-reviews, somehow, maybe with a different font or something. Right now they don’t stand out all.
The rest is OK, and I like the inclusion of stats.
i hope the enlarged numbers/posters/reviews don’t stick around, but stats are nice.
The stats rule. Thanks for that. I agree the PSI is too big, and the poster crowds the review.
I understand the motives behind making the PSI numbers bigger for phone users, but on my monitor (or tablet) they are just a little too much. Maybe there can be a setting in your options that lets you toggle between a large and small font depending on your browsing format.
My spoon is too big.
Everything is so freaking huge now
Overall very positive. Things are bigger, but I’m already getting used to it. The stats are great.
My score is not THAT important.
I’m red-green colorblind, and really struggle to see the difference between red and green numbers in the ratings list now that you changed the color of the numbers instead of the background. I had no problem before. Just saying.
Thank you Criticker-gods for always making adjustments and additions to the site.
Like everybody I appreciate the stats. And I think exchanging pictures with posters is a good idea.
There’s one problem with having to upload a picture when submitting a film, though: For obscure or old ones, neither pictures nor posters are available online.
I really like the new layout and the move to actual movie posters instead of random stills is a nice improvement. However, I have to echo the thoughts of several others that my ratings/PSIs on the movie pages are way too big when browsing on a PC. A “large/small ratings” toggle in the user profile seems an amicable solution.
I thought I’d accidentally zoomed in on the page when I first loaded one of the film pages!
I do like having larger images, but I liked having mostly film stills rather than posters. It helped seperate this site from other film-ranking sites.
The new scores are crazy looking, though! I keep thinking there’s a credit score advertisement where my rating should be. Looking at other user’s scores is more difficult, too.
Stats are a plus!
Alright everyone, we hear you loud and clear. I don’t think we’ve ever received so many comments on one enhancement. We’re working right now on replacing that giant number with something a bit more subdued — that seems to be the big complaint. I think we just got used to it during development, or were just too excited to get the stats live. But the solution we’re working is a big improvement. Be patient, it’s already in the works.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention the stats. Very cool addition. Thanks for the hard work, it’s much appreciated!
Looking forward to the coming tweaks! You guys are great!
And thanks again for the overall update!
