Loving the Green Lantern Posters

I’m a geek for Green Lantern, and have been since I was just a little nerd. There’s home video of me running around the house at 7 years old, pointing my “power ring” at Sinestro/Mommy. So for the last few years, I’ve been in heaven as writer Geoff Johns revitalized the comic book and brought GL to the top of the sales charts, by creating a rich mythology for Hal Jordan and his supporting cast. There’s never been a better time to be a Green Lantern fan.

And now, the movie is right around the corner. The recently-wrapped Comic Con 2010 revealed all sorts of news about the upcoming adaptation, but nothing got my heart fluttering as fast as the posters.

I had been a little sour on Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, but the supporting cast inspires confidence (particularly Mark Strong), as does the video of Reynolds reciting the GL oath. Can’t wait!

Kick-Ass & Hit-Girl Will Hit and Kick You!

It doesn’t have the most original premise of all time (see: this entire TV series), but luckily for Kick-Ass, that’s a suggestion and not a requirement, as long as you’ve got good acting, great action and genuine comedy. And, of course, excellent source material.

Mark Millar’s 2008 comic Kick-Ass (Icon) was beloved by fans, and their fears about it being ruined by Hollywood have happily turned out unfounded. Initial reviews by Criticker users have been uniformly positive. It wasn’t able to kick total ass at the box office this weekend, though, finishing 2nd. But for a superhero comedy, maybe that’s not too bad… how many other good superhero comedies have there ever been?

HD Trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine

In our second comics-related trailer in as many weeks, we offer you a film that looks like it will be ~~perhaps a little~~ definitely a lot better than The Spirit. Check out X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE HD

Yup, Wolverine’s tough-guy line at the end of this trailer is far more entertaining than The Spirit’s “I’m gonna kill you all kinds of dead”. With a great cast that, in addition to Hugh Jackman, features Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth, this film is promising to be something great. It will be directed by Gavin Hood, who made his name with 2005′s unforgettable South African drama Tsotsi.

It looks like there are going to be other X-Men Origins films, though that might depend on how well Wolverine does in cinemas. Magento will likely get the treatment next, but who else would you like to see in their own film?
