More Changes to the Film Info Page

Due to the, ahem, vitriolic reaction towards the new Film Info changes, we’ve made a new update which will hopefully soothe some frayed nerves.

The outrage was focused mainly on the giant PSI / Rating numbers. On retrospect, we agreed — they were a little much, and I’m honestly not sure why we released the page looking like that. The truth is, we were mostly excited to get the new statistics functionality to our users, and had just grown used to the big numbers during development.

Hope you like the new layout better. If so, let us know! And if not, well… sigh. Let us know that too, I suppose. But in a nice way.

Big Changes to the Film Information Page

Update: Yet More Changes!

As you might have already noticed, we’ve just made big new changes to the Film Information page. We hope you like them! Here is an overview of some of the updates and enhancements just introduced.

Larger, Poster-Sized Images
We’ve got poster-sized images for about 2500 of the films in our database, and have provided a utility to allow users to upload ones that are missing.

Larger PSI/Rating Indicator
Along with a cleaned-up look for sharing your favorite films via Twitter, Facebook or Email.

Enhanced Sorting Possibilities on Rankings
View all rankings, just those with reviews, or just your kumpels, and order them by TCI, Tier, Date Ranked or # Stars. What’s more… Criticker will remember the last way you sorted, so if you always like you look at “Latest Rankings with Reviews”, you’ll see that right away.

Statistics
We know this is what you’ve all been waiting for. Check out statistics of the Tier Breakdown for each movie. Also, tier breakdowns on specific personal information, such as gender, age and country.

We really hope you like the changes! And please help us out by submitting posters for those films which don’t yet have them. The page looks fine with the legacy, smaller images, but much better when there are full-sized posters.

And a huge thanks to our Sponsors, without whose support Criticker wouldn’t be possible. If you’re enjoying the website, please think about helping out — we exist without any kind of corporate cash, and really depend on the generosity of our users.

Average Tier & Num Rankings on Film Information

A couple days ago, we introduced a much sought-after bit of information on the page of every film in Criticker — the average tier and total number of rankings.

This makes it easy to see the relative popularity of a film, based on the number of people who’ve seen it. The PSI is still the personalized recommendation, but the average tier might also be of interest to many users.

It might be slow going, but we’re constantly working on enhancing Criticker… little small steps all the time. We’re glad you’re sticking with us!

Remove from Collection on Film List Page

We’ve just introduced a small new enhancement, which allows you to remove films from a collection when you’re looking at the collection in the Film Database.

Just a quick little improvement which will hopefully make it easier for you to administer your collections, without having to go into the moderation screen or the page for each individual film.

Date Ranked on Film Info Page

We’ve just made another small change to the Film Information page. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll now see the date you ranked it in the list of information.

Just a minor change, but one that we hope improves your experience a bit!

Rank Films from Filmmaker Page

We just released a new feature which extends the ability to rank movies to the page of each actor, director or screenwriter. Now, you can rank the movies found in Jim Wynorski‘s repertoire without having to click on each one individually. And since you’ve seen a lot of Mr. Wynorski’s films, this will save you a lot of time!

Hope you like this new feature… as always, let us know if something doesn’t work quite right!

View Film Update History

We’ve just added a bit new functionality to the Film Information page, which allows you to view the history of film updates. When available, just click on the link which says “View Update History”, and you’ll get a list of all the updates which various users have made to the film.

Hope you enjoy this little improvement to the site.
