Emblematic of all the worst the era had to offer; irritating skits, impenetrable inside jokes, bad video effects, and poorly recorded musical performances make viewing difficult, appreciation even moreso. Ringo's funny, otherwise the film is irredeemable, and I would recommend it to avid Zappa fans only as proof that not everything he touched turned to gold.

Features the best casting choice ever with Ringo Starr as Zappa. Otherwise, it's an insane movie. A lot happens but you often can't tell what's truly going on. The musical sequences are shot in a way as to ensure a headache, but the music behind it is completely great. It goes on for too long. There came a point where I just completely zoned out and couldn't keep watching anymore. I can't really make up my mind on this film. There's good elements and many flaws too.

For Zappa fans. The album is better than the movie, actually. But this film is way much better than the unfinished Uncle Meat. But the album Uncle Meat is better than the album 200 Motels. In my opinion, of course.

At the time I saw this film, I looked EXACTLY like Mark Volman. That was the only interesting thing about the movie.
