If you have to do a remake of anything a few decades old I guess this is the preferred way to do it, so self aware it announces the end to its second act. A few intelligent twists, off the cuff comedy, in on the joke camera work and actors from the influencing series, all make for watchable unoriginality.

The chemistry between Tatum and Hill, coupled with an enviroment that's almost completely self-aware elevate 21 Jump Street high above all of the unremarkable/cliche buddy cop flicks of recent years. There are moments where things seem forced, but they are few and far between.

Cool no-brainer and one of movies which actually deserves tag "teen comedy". Amazing how J.Hill and C.Tatum look stupid together. On side note, this could be peak of Ice Cube acting career.

Starts of seeming like another dumb teen comedy, but quickly turns into a self-aware and surprisingly funny parody of Hollywood conventions - notably the overblown "drug horror" sequence and the protagonists' confusion when they find themselves in a high-school not populated by movie cliches. It even manages to poke fun at its own implausibility quite successfully. The 2 leads are a great comic pairing. Would have been an 80+ score if the final act had been as strong as the rest.

Although it starts to drag significantly once it gets into the final act, Hill and (especially) Tatum make great comedy leads, and the self-parody that runs through the script is rich without being overwhelming. Overally, it's a surprisingly good attempt at a reboot.

Why did people like this movie? There’s nothing original or interesting in it. Oh, and it’s not funny! It’s meant to be a comedy, right? The so-called ‘self-aware’ elements were contrived as hell. What does anyone actually see in Channing Tatum? I didn’t find him charming, funny or attractive. Jonah Hill was much better. The best part was definitely Johnny Depp’s cameo. I’ve really got to stop trusting people when it comes to Hollywood comedies. They’re rarely as funny as they’re made out to be.

21 Jump Street isn't a wild, fresh reinvention of the movie-cliché-spoofing genre - this isn't "Airplane!" we're talking about - but it's also not a drearily overfamiliar retread of it.

Dude, this is another remake! It had no right to be as sharp, smart, and satisfying as it is! It had no right to be so hip and cagey and such an accurate portrayal--parody, even--of today's increasingly nebulous, shifting, discombobulating high school landscape! It's a movie for actual grown-ups, not ADD-afflicted teenyboppers! Tatum gives a likable comic performance and isn't meatheaded at all! This is a GOOD movie! For real! What happened, fellas?

If you need any indication of how awesome Chris Miller and Phil Lord are, I suggest you look up Clone High. Their great senses of humor transferred surprisingly well to live action with 21 Jump Street, and the film never drags. I'm still laughing over some things in this film (kudos to Depp for being an awesome sport with his hilarious cameo).

Well they definitely don't waste any time getting into things. Within about five minutes, the two have already teamed up. But sometimes it's kind of cool for movies to do that; we know where we're going, why waste time? When Channing Tatum said "You want me to beat your dick off?", I almost died. There are really great moments and lines, and a splattering of sentimentality too. The movie delivers on what it promises on the surface, and that's about all it needs to do. Definitely worth seeing.

Hill's delivery is as annoying as a manic depressive UPS driver's fuzzy pink dice, burly Channing Tatum's biceps are as bursting as a loaf of ripe liverwurst, and Johnny Depp finds himself in his best role since the Cinnabon I ate last weekend at the mall. I'm not even going to try to make a mixed metaphor out of Ice Cube's straight-outta-Compton angry black police captain character.

Do you ever find yourself liking a movie because you happened to be in precisely the right mood when you watched it? That's the case for me here. This is NOT a great movie, but one evening I was wanting a goofy comedy with a hint of intelligence and originality. Just a hint. And that's what I got. I enjoyed the hell out of this. Would I have hated it on a different night? It's very possible.

The best kind of buddy cop movie. This movie had me laughing so hard that I had a coughing attack and almost had to pause it.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum were a great pair. I also thought that Hill's love interest Brie Larson was really good.
Ice Cube was a great angry Police Chief.
What surprised me the most was the very excellent cameo by the cast of the original 21 Jump Street. What a great, great scene.
It seems like they might make a sequel. I'd be down with that. Very funny movie!

Ice Cube steals the show. Rob Riggle and Johnny Depp is are also excellent here. Channing Tatum is better than expected, but Jonah Hill is, as usual, by far the weakest link in the cast. Good pacing, never boring, although the jokes are hit and miss. Overall it's definitely one of the better buddy cop films.

The buddy cop/high school comedy genres aren't going to be evolved by leaps and bounds by this, but it certainly knows how to poke fun at all the well known cliches. The two leads have excellent chemistry when they're together onscreen, even if I could have done without the forced teen romance on Hill's part.

Sloppy editing at times for such a big budget movie, and Franco's typecasting is wearing thin. An otherwise fun movie, with the first half definitely better than the second.

I didn't understand this movie's title and Ice Cube's appearance. It was weird hearing N.W.A.'s Straight Outta Compton and watching him in this. How people change. It became even more weird when Depp popped up. Did anybody even see the original series? I was so confused watching this.
