It may surprise you, but this film is intelligent and enthralling. More than competent visuals unfold complex and intertwined discourses on sex, race and class.

Sure, cliche. Sure, the acting isn't very good. Sure, it has underdeveloped characters. But it's still a lot of fun to watch if the subject or Eminem himself peaks your interest.

I expected something way else, but what I got was quite a realistic presentation (well I wouldn't know, but looked real) of the low-life in the huge city, and the whole story about rap was done reasonably. While some scenes were kind of weak and I missed some more detail into the surroundings, I think the movie captured its point, and definately made me think about it.

Eminem has found his other love besides rap and that would be acting. Surprisingly, he is really good at it. The soundtrack to this is probably one of the best in cinema, as it not only has five original songs all written and performed by him, but also has the now legendary Lose Yourself. The rap battles are also very well-done, but there's something missing from 8 Mile, and that would be an engaging plotline. Still a decent film and I actually wouldn't mind seeing Eminem in other roles.

White guy rapping and being a bitch in general

Yes it's regurgitated "Purple Rain", no I don't especially like Eminem, but something about it still worked.

A compelling (and entertaining) examination of human courage and personal sacrifice, "8 Mile" is filled with flawed characters that project the torn dreams of the human soul, and projects this with complete authenticity. The film's terrific final scene ends the film on the right, powerful note. It's a fantastic moment that pays its dues to Jimmy, a man that rises partially above his demons, and came one step closer to rising above his fear.
