"A fun tale from the B-movie basement."

A neat relic from the beatnik age. Like all of Corman's best, it's got dark humor, low-budget cheesy charm, and a lovable put-upon protagonist.

the whole beatnik thing is utterly laughable, as intended, yet this movie is horribly stupid anyway. i could have probably enjoyed this movie if i were under the influence of copious amounts of liquor.

As a viewing experience it's lean and flowing and entertaining to watch, if a bit slight and generally ridiculous. But underlying the somewhat exploitative horror comedy is a potent allegory about social reception of and expectations from art. It's significant that the director of this little movie that's more ambitious that it looks, went on to become the producer patriarch of New Hollywood.

A silly but enjoyable film from Roger Corman which nonetheless takes swipes at the perception of art and alternative beat culture at the time with some panache and wit.

The reason we see Dick Miller in so many other movies

Entertaining low budget horror comedy.

Although the idea of putting corpses into wax or clay as art has been done before, I liked this movie. I liked the main characters, mainly Dick Miller's character. This movie is also humorous in a black comedy sort of way. I recommend seeing this movie.

Corman does a great job with the low budget with a clever premise, good pacing, and some nice macabre humor.

Like an extended episode of The Twilight Zone.Sort of funny and maybe worth a watch if you have a spare hour.

Mildly amusing. Feels like a rather silly episode of Twilight Zone.

A near-classic example of horror-themed cheesiness and Dante-esque wit; the morbidly fun work of a flawed, but creative filmmaker. It's not on a par with The Fly or anything like that, but a worthy B-movie all the same.
