Deeply accurate and brilliantly engaging. A real glimpse into the world of the theatrical hopefuls. Well shot, loads of snappy numbers and choreography, good script and characterisations

Great dancing, pretty good music and interesting portrayal of the audition process more than compensate for the absence of plot and the fact that some of the acting is only fair (to be expected, given that the cast was obviously selected for dance ability first of all). A great opening. Some directorial decisions were poor, probably due to an ill-considered attempt to compensate for what was considered un-cinematic about the theatrical production. On the stage show, cf., "Every Little Step."

Not the greatest stage show to begin with, it really doesn't translate well to film. Much of the music is quite good, and the dancing is spectacular, but bad acting, a horrible script, and static direction keep this film from ever really being more than a doldrum interspersed with the occasional energetic dance number.

A classic play has been reduced a decent movie. It's a shame it couldn't be as good as the play; it's a small pleasure that it's as entertaining as it is.

Very boring as far as I remember,long time since I seen the film and probably need to see it again to give an accurate score.

It's not horrible, but this is definitely not my kind of movie. What do I care about a bunch of wannabe Rockettes trying out for a Broadway show? I don't.
