A great adaption of A Christmas Carol, but it can get pretty intense, wouldn't recommend for really young kids.

A nice example of the fact that good visuals and a good plot does not necessarily make a good movie.

Zemeckis' latest motion-capture CGI project capsizes Dickens' narrative power simply because the faces of the human simulacra are so utterly inexpressive and ugly.

Zemeckis continues to try and convince audiences that motion-capture animation is the future of movies, and despite his mostly faithful adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol,' I still don't love the format. The animation looks great, but something didn't quite gel here, perhaps because it's never suited young audiences and I didn't agree with a lot of the actors chosen, as well as a few liberties taken with the classic. Does it look great? Yes. Is it a great story? Yes. Is it a great movie? No.

Despite all the technology, and money, and behind-the-scenes work, this does absolutely nothing to advance anything. Or make the story any more meaningful than it's been 600 times before.

The Patrick Stewart Christmas Carol always moves me; this didn't. Not big on the look, either. Still a great story.

Isn't all that incredible to be honest. The CGI is certainly quite good but the film feels like it comedically fills the stereotype that things need to be "actioned up" for American audiences. It's not bad and there are some genuinely entertaining moments but when so many adaptations have been done this one doesn't stand out in my mind beyond "oh that CGI one."

Eh, I didn't think it was that bad, it isn't great and doesnt really bring anything to a story you have seen dozens of times.

Very weak for an animated film. I was expecting a lot more fun/excitement. It was a good treatment of the book, it actually felt like a book written hundreds of years ago, long wordy, and superfluous.

Although the graphics were big the story was not very engaging. There were funny moments in the film. But there was no real draw to the film even though Jim Carrey was the main character.

Fine CGI. Wonderful language spoken by the good, motion captured voice cast. At times almost moving, at others somewhat over the top. It also gets rather grim for a family/Christmas picture.

A crisp, atmospheric adaptation of Dickens' classic that's just too short for the audience to really buy Scrooge's transformation.The story is built up slowly and delicately but starts to accelerate a tad too fast through the spirits' visitations and by the time of the gratuitous Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come carriage chase you've given up on characters and plot coming before big-screen entertainment.Although I've no doubt it would've looked miles better on an IMAX screen than my ageing laptop.

Too scary and realistic to be considered a kids movie, too shallow to be considered a mature retelling of the classic Charles Dickens story. It swings both ways and as such seems to be a bit of an odd one. It's enjoyable, of that I'm sure but if you look passed the pretty pictures (which at times look frighteningly real) there aren't a whole lot of redeeming qualities left. Because of that this failed to leave me any lasting impressions... Other than that I won't ever show this to children!

Zemeckis wanted to reshape a classic story, filling it with eye catching effects, but presented some mediocre stuff with silly jokes and annoying, laughing spirit.

Aside from some nice imagery, there is really nothing to take away from this. It wasn't a very good adaptation, mostly because it brought nothing new to the table. I also found it really slow, and boring in a lot of parts. Isn't this supposed to be for kids?

Not as terrible as I thought it would be. It actually imagines some of the best images in the book in a haunting and faithful way, but I don't know, it's still a pretty pointless exercise.

Whilst this is a decent enough adaptation it fails to capture the emotion of the story in the way that others have. The animation is that almost but not quite life-like sort which just bears too much of a resemblance to waxworks for my liking.

Manages to somehow present all of the key elements of the story without including any emotion or suspense. The special effects sequences, especially the baffling chase scene during the third ghost's visit, really detract from the actual events of the film. There were a few effective scenes near the beginning of the film, but other than that it was a wasted effort.
