What might have made a winning two-minute venture is dragged beyond the point of quirky entertainment by the time the full 8 minutes-plus have transpired. There's likely a message to excavate in the Svankmajer's employment of a ticking clock, but A Game with Stones lacks the flair and wittiness that defines his best, rendering any subtexts obsolete.
