While it's not as well animated as the later entries in the series, there is a simple charm about A Grand Day out that is impossible to deny. Plus the gag where Wallace uses Gromit as a table leg is great.

The first film shows the humble roots of Wallace and Gromit, though a little stilted it has creativity, humour and British charm.

There's some glitches in the animation that would be ironed out later, but it's still a very good debut for the titular characters. The robot's story is actually rather depressing, I was very sad as a kid.
