Summary: A group of five mountaineers are hiking and climbing in the Scottish Highlands when they discover a young Serbian girl buried in a small chamber in the wilderness. They become caught up in a terrifying game of cat and mouse with the kidnappers as they try to get the girl to safety. (imdb)
Kind of falls apart in the third act, and doesn't break any ground, but I'm a sucker for kidnapping stories. Also, the mountain climbing seems shoehorned in -- doesn't really add anything to the premise. Still, an effective thriller that keeps you entertained through its entire running time.
There is a lot to admire in this; the performances, the camerawork and the director's control over the tension of the action but unfortunately the adrenaline the film oozes does not extend until the ending. Overall, it's a very well made film but the finale lacks a killer instinct and becomes all too obvious.
Some ridiculous choices are made by some of the characters and a lot of it seems hard to believe, especially the last 3rd of the film. Wasn't on edge for a single second, maybe I'm just desensitized from all the horror I've watched in my life.
I didn't expect something this good to be honest. But it offers a few unexpected twists and turns and never gets boring. And there are some really cringeworthy scenes.
