Christopher Guest makes another great movie

This was a film really made for those with obesessive knowledge of the folk music genre, and since folk music, along with German Polka, is essentially the only genre that I was exposed to as child, I unfortunately fall into this category. Still, the music in this is very good.

A sweet and good-natured comedy, not as edgy as their other movies, but as this is about folk singers I guess that makes sense.

Never did know wondering after all! Christopher Guest's allstar comedy team delivers non-stop laughs in this quirky mockumentary of the folk music industry.

Not as funny as other Christopher Guest stuff, and not as touching as it tries to be. Fred Willard is pretty amazing, though.

Better than I expected

Not my favorite Christopher Guest film, but I laughed consistently all the way through it, so not bad by any means.

This is regarded as 'lesser Guest', but some of his best moments are here. There are a number of pee-your-pants funny bits, many belonging to Levy, who turns in a career performance -- or certainly his best work since SCTV. Begley Jr. is memorably hilarious as well, but it's Willard who steals the show. "WHA' HAPPEN??" The songs are all good too, and manage to make folk music entertaining. I'm actually starting to prefer this to Best in Show. It just gets better and better every time I see it.

Who knew Annette O'Toole was such an awesome songwriter? We all do, now.

Amusing and sweet. All of it greatly enhanced by Fred Willard, who I've always loved and can make me cry here. "Hey, wha happened?"

Not as funny as the other Christopher Guest films I've seen, but still worth seeing. The Mitch and Mickey plotline is genuinely quite sweet even if Eugene Levy's performance doesn't quite work for me.
