Bland and disappointing up until the last twenty minutes or so... of course by then my interest was on its way out.

It's usually a bad sign that you can tell that the movie was adapted from a stage play. This 'stage-play' feeling follows A Slight Case of Murder from the beginning to the most absurd end. Robinson's role is a parody of the gangster persona he used to act in his earlier films, but humor is very outdated.
