This film has too much unconsidered patriotism to be exceptional, but it is fascinating as a window into the cult of personality around American presidents. The deft transformation of Lincoln's shortcomings into a reluctant but fierce determination to do right by the public seems naive, and the film closes just after it starts to explore the intriguing marital tension that it introduces. Nevertheless, a fantastic performance from Canadian Raymond Massey.

I still want a portrayal of Lincoln with the high, squeaky voice he really had. It also totally shows that this movie was based on a play (e.g., the often clunky/verbal exposition). It's still a well-made film all around that's worth seeing

Too stage-bound, but still a nice Lincoln biopic. Massey is excellent and Gordon is good too.
