High school senior Bartleby "B" Gaines is on his way to scoring eight out of eight rejection letters from colleges, which isn't going to go over big with Mom and Dad. At least he's not alone in the exclusion. Several of his crew of outcast friends are in the same, college-less boat. So how does a guy facing a bleak career please his parents and get noticed by dream girl Monica? Simple. Open his own university. (Universal Pictures)

The main message of this film seems to be that in order to get a 'real' education then you need to go to a 'fake' college. And you know what, there's a kernel of truth in that claim. The premise of the story is surprisingly original and full of dramatic and comedic potential, even if this is not always realised in the execution of the script. As Peirce exclaims; "Experience is our only teacher."

I was suprised by this one, it was very good. Seeing as how its got no name, no known director, no real famous actors (i've seen the main character before in some minor roles but meh). But it was a really enjoyable movie, fun to just sit down with a few drinks and watch with a group of friends... i've got this movie in my rotation of stuff i watch when i've got nothing better to do. Definately watch this at some point, you'll enjoy it.

Incredibly cliched plotline, but frequently quite funny.

Kinda funny if only for South Harmon Institute of Technology having the Sandwiches as their school team.

It's a pretty paint-by-numbers mid-2000's comedy, but if you take it for what it is there's a certain charm to it. It's quick, fun, and lighthearted, and Justin Long throws his all into it. Plus, it actually has a surprisingly sincere and true message behind it, even if it's one that's been used in plenty of other movies. Nothing amazing, but definitely watchable.
