More like a drama class excersise than an actual movie. Everything about this film feels forced and ultimately pointless. Beware of the unibrow woman!

Atom Egoyan presents us with a very compelling and even-handed discussion of the current ethical climate that we live in. Certain scenes are immensely thought-provoking and even dearly emotional. However, unlike other films of its kind, such as "American History X," the film just doesn't hold a very cinematic prowess and exists mostly as the talking points for something much more powerful and satisfying.

Bold and intellectually stimulating but one that suffers under the weight of its own ambition. The ideas are in abundance and are mostly provocative but the dramatization falls short.

As usually with Atom Egoyan films, this latest film about a high school student weaving his family history in a news story involving terrorism, also longs for a second viewing as it's sometimes hard to 'get' it at all its different levels. Adoration works well visually and has a powerful soundtrack of violin, cello and piano, but the storyline itself isn't always as satisfying with the student being the least convincing character, and it's hard to pinpoint what the film is really about.

Visually perfect, however the story didn't grab me as much. Too much is told, not enough shown, especially all the angry people online, whom I didn't care about. I wanted to know more about Tommy and his issues.

Usually I like Devon Bostick, but my god he was annoying in this. So was his character. So was the ham-handedness of it all. Except Bostick the cast was pretty great, but this is basically lots of people talking about things they have various amounts of (read: none) knowledge about and annoying the viewer (me) immensely. Downplays the good parts (the history of the family and what happened) and overdoes what's annoying (intensely long chat-room sequences). Really, painfully, average.
