Adventureland adds appreciable humanity to the genre, improving the adolescent egotism inflected by Dazed and Confused and the vulgar excesses of Superbad.

You may accuse Adventureland for trying to be too cool, but I think the movie is more than just hip and all this indie crap. Greg Mottola's coming-of-age tale pays homage to John Hughe's 1980s, I guess, and is subtle funny, gentle and truly melancholic. And I forgot to mention those really good supporting characters, you know, Frigo, Joel, Bobby, Paulette, and, yes, Lisa P.

Jesse Eisenberg is back on track! nice one!

While Superbad felt like great fun, this (following a very standard romcom formula) approaches true greatness. Accolades must be given to the casting decisions, and its balance of the humor/drama, but Mottola's upped his game in terms of cinematography, too.

Definitely one of the better Coming of Age movies mostly due to the strong presence of the leading characters. I really enjoy watching Eisenberg but this time Kristen Steward was the one that impressed me the most.

Aimless and amiable, just like the kind of summer it so expertly captures. Kristen Stewart's never been better.

A nice film. Acting's rather good, soundtrack's nice and a simple plot-line which makes it easily relatable to and real. Having said that though, it did lack some drive, which probably was the point, but it did make it drag in a few places. It also draws upon a few cliches here and there, but it all ends up coming together rather nicely. So, yeah, decent, but a bit overrated for me.

It's hard to dislike a teen comedy/drama as genuine as this. Who'd have thought that, once removed from the Twilight franchise, Kristen Stewart manages to do some acting. Wish that dire bullshit would end already so we could see her in some more real films. Some of its scenes are cut from a hopelessly predictable cloth but in the end it all works as one. Clear-cut and heartfelt.

Sweet and simple little flick about growing up and learning to love what's right in front of you. Eisenberg uses his layered personable charms to straightforward effect.

Not bad at all

I don't know how I missed all the 'comedy' - none - zip. Its just various characters screwing each other right and left. There are some fleeting moments where the photography, close-ups and emoted feelings along with music all sync up to a feel-good medley. Ryan's performance is good. Jesse Eisenberg's performance is ok. But all others fail. The biggest failure is Kristen's performance. Why is she so sad ? What is messed up so much in her life ? makes it difficult to connect with the character.
