Perry makes for an unconvincing gentleman, and, though he becomes tolerable during the final scenes of the movie, is a definite lowpoint. Farley (with whom I was unfamiliar prior to Almost Heroes) and most of the supporting cast turn in good performances, but they're victims of a very hit-and-miss script. The hits are usually pretty funny, though, and none of the misses were cringe-inducing. I had a much better time watching it than I thought I would, but then again, I like ridiculous movies.

This was a very poor movie. Of course there were a couple of laughs, but they didn't come from Farley or Perry or the pairing of the two. I got a little kick out of the secondary characters as there were some pretty funny lines from them. This was role that did not fit Farley and Perry was almost unwatchable.

My love for Chris Farley and physical comedy in general made me enjoy this movie, even if I wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Farley could never manage to make anything that had that special something that makes a great comedy after Tommy Boy and it's sad that this was his last hurrah.

Christopher Guest's last film before his string of pseudo-mockumentaries and Chris Farley's last film before death provides a moderately funny alternate reality of the Lewis and Clark expeditions with lesser known rivals Edwards (Matthew Perry) and Hunt (Farley). While not as funny as Tommy Boy or Black Sheep, Almost Heroes provides enough laughs to sustain its 90 minutes led by a supporting cast including Kevin Dunn and Eugene Levy.

I really enjoy this movie because of my affinity for Chris Farley. The plot is pretty flimsy, but it's good enough to set up different gags. At least check this movie out for the sequence that involves Farley trying to get the egg of a bald eagle.

Not in the same league as Christopher Guest's other work but still fun, especially when playing in the background...in another room...with the door closed...and the sound down.

Another lousy Chris Farley comedy where he plays a spastic fatass doing antiquated physical humor. This time the straight man he's paired with is even worse than David Spade...Matthew Perry. They managed to rustle up a few laughs from the bony corpse of the screenplay, but the prevailing emotion is boredom. They get very little mileage out of the historical setting; most of the crappy gags might as well be from the modern-day. The "story", when they finally get to it, is tortuous. Bad stuff.

A relatively entertaining but very inconsistent movie. Farley and Perry are funny in their own ways, but certainly mismatched; as such, the film has highs and lows that average out to a watchable but generally forgettable whole.
