Summary: Based on the novel "De donkere kamer van Damokles" of dutch writer Willem Frederik Hermans. The fainthearted cigar trader Ducker keeps himself quiet during World War II. That changes when parachutist Dorbeck lands in his backyard. It turns out the parachutist bears a remarkable resemblance to Ducker. Ducker follows Dorbeck blindly, becomes involved in the Dutch resistance and soon starts killing people. A good filming of the original book. The plot leaves the original novel on a couple of places, but no real harm done. Only the ending destroys the whole basic idea and story of the book. The book had an open ending, where in the movie an awful attempt has been made to give it a close ending. Advise: skip the finale scene.
