How much you value this depends on your tolerance for unapologetic sappiness and nostalgia for an imagined past. I thought it was rambling.

One of the most influential and important coming-of-age films, Graffiti perhaps hasn't aged well, but its characters are still very funny and entertaining. Ric Dreyfuss, on his best shape, is the most interesting, deepest and bittersweet of all, a star who would shine again and write one chapter of the New Hollywood two years later, with Jaws.

For a George Lucas film I was quite let down. All that seems to happen is people drive around a lot and listen to lots of sixties music. Not necessarily a bad thing but then again not my cup of tea really. The climax is exciting if a little predictable though the plot was hard to grasp. As an exercise in displaying the 60s young culture of America it's successful, but I wouldn't want to live there.

It's an interesting portrait of the early 60s in America, especially 'teen pop culture.' It relies heavily on nostalgia. Through the eyes of this movie the youth of the day were fickle in their decision making (lack of life experience), but at the same time there was a feeling that they were outside the boundaries of day and night, and of responsibility and still possessed a free spirit. I thought the ending scenes were great, without being astounding or anything.

Good concept, good actors, but not really directed very well.

Great flick, totally different from what Lucas usually ponders in. And it totally gets the era it depicts.

Just saw this for the first time. It is what the 80's John Hughes films were probably inspired from. Think Dazed and Confused 70's era
